Edit: I recently released two free reports on the adrenal glands. The first one is an expansion on 30 Symptoms Of Adrenal Fatigue. There are now 50 symptoms in this free report. And, there is an article on what you can do to help your adrenal glands come to full health. This report is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine. You can get both these reports and more free information on the adrenal fatigue at the link.

There were some great questions from Amber in the email yesterday.

“I recently happened upon your website when I was researching adrenal fatigue
symptoms. I was recently diagnosed with Adrenal fatigue through saliva testing.
I have been seeing an MD who is very knowledgeable in natural therapies as well.
He has me on licorice root drops, 5-6 drops in the am and 4-5 @ noon. Also,
DHEA and Pregnenalone and I have started some liquid bioidentical progesterone
for my hormonal imbalance as well. After reading about the woman who took dhea
and developed breast cancer I became a little alarmed. Any recommendations to
take along with the licorice root rather than DHEA? I do see a difference since
I started it the licorice. I do have some allergies to chamomile, anything in
the ragweed family, fish & shellfish and nuts. I also have been seeing my
chiropractor and he tells me that even though I have been having symptoms like a
hiatal hernia I am having a pyloric spasm. I am not sure what is causing this
or if I have a hiatal hernia or not for sure. Any suggestions on supplements to
help this? I am too afraid to go have the barium swallow done to find out. I
don’t like to ingest things that may be harmful to me. Any information you
might have on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and
consideration.”

First of all, Amber, the reason you are feeling better is most likely because of the DHEA. DHEA can really give a boost as the adrenal glands don’t have to work so hard making it. It isn’t always going to cause a problem, but because it can it is best to avoid it. And, if someone insists on taking it then the 7-keto DHEA is far less dangerous. Remember, my friend is elderly, and dealing with several other issues.

There are a few different factors that are generally involved with cancer. Briefly, the factors that are almost always involved with cancer are: low body ph — an acidic body, parasites, chemical toxicity and heavy metal toxicity. Obviously there is a lot more to say about each of these issues, but realize that a diet of processed foods will almost always bring most of these factors with it.

The licorice you are taking is probably not doing much at all for you. The dosage isn’t close to therapeutic, and the quality of herbs is always a question. I only know of two brands that are of good quality: MediHerb and Kroeger. The tinctures you get at the health food store are almost always too poor of a quality to do any good at all. If taking MediHerb licorice, a therapeutic dosage is four ml a day, or a little less than a teaspoon.

The herb that I almost always give with licorice is Siberian Ginseng botanical name Eleuthero. I recommend 11 ml along with the 4 ml of licorice. It is best to split that into two doses, morning and noon.

There are contraindications to this protocol though. Licorice can raise blood pressure though 4 ml isn’t likely to do that. And, even though Siberian Ginseng isn’t nearly as ‘hot’ as other types Ginseng it can still be an issue for some people.

There are other supplements that help as well, I outline very general possibilities in this article on adrenal fatigue.

A note here, a friend of mine and I are working on a system that will allow us to offer supplement suggestions for a reasonable price. We are also going to offer Standard Process and MediHerb supplements at nearly wholesale prices. Sign up for the free book in the tab above, and you will receive advance notification and a limited time discount.

The pyloric spasm is a bit more complicated. I have had really good success at treating hiatal hernias and similar conditions like your spasm and GERD. Unfortunately, I probably need to do a one-on-one session for complete success. I still haven’t worked out how to do part of this without individual consultations, but I do have a couple of ideas in the works. And, a phone session will usually suffice.

One self test you can do is to take a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in some water to see if that settles it. Avoid doing this on an empty stomach though as most people have an h. pylori infection in the stomach. If the bacteria is very strong the vinegar can cause severe discomfort. If the symptoms go away with the vinegar, then you are like most people and don’t produce enough hydrochloric acid. This is another complex issue that I need to write about sometime soon.

The hormone imbalance isn’t normal. Very common, yes, but not normal. I don’t usually find that hormone replacement therapy is necessary. Adrenal fatigue is usually a contributing factor these cases, but liver dysfunction is often the main factor, I talk about it in this article on liver detoxification. Basically, it isn’t a deficiency of prednisone, but rather an excess of estrogens due to the liver not breaking them down. The imbalance is what causes the symptoms.

I realize I created a number of questions with these answers. I’ll try to write more on these subjects in the future.

The evidence is showing that the death rate for the swine flu is not very high at all. In fact, it is much lower than the seasonal flu that comes around every year.

It seems in fact, that the death rate for the rest of the world outside Mexico has been less than the seasonal flu which kills about 36,000 Americans a year. Data over the following months after the breakout in Mexico have shown the death rate to be between 0.1% and less than 1%. Certainly nothing to warrant the fear that government hysteria has caused.

This information comes from Medscape which promotes the medical perspective. And, this point of view is often skewed, and probably is skewed here too because they are now calling just about any flu symptom the swine flu.

It really is a shame that the government feels the need to promote a deadly vaccination doesn’t help against something that isn’t really deadly in the first place. I got a flu a few days ago, my first in years, and it only lasted two days, with only one day where I really didn’t feel like doing anything. Was it the swine flu? A doctor probably would have said “yes” with no test.

I am a bit unusual though. As well as being very healthy, I took supplements to knock it out. The main one I take for any flu is Congeplex from Standard Process. I keep a large bottle of it around at all times as I just do not have time to take off for a minor issue like the flu.

Remember, in most cases, the people that die from the flu are usually already very ill or very old. Many times, the same people that get very sick from the vaccine. How many people do you know who got the flu vaccine? And, how many of them got sick from it? You will be hard pressed to find those statistics shouted out by the government. And, there is now a lot of evidence that shows that this drug is causing and going to cause much more harm than good.

Check out what two top scientists are saying about the vaccine as reported by Gale and Null.

“Dr. Anthony Morris, a distinguished virologist and former Chief Vaccine Office at the U.S. Federal Drug Administration (FDA), states that “There is no evidence that any influenza vaccine thus far developed is effective in preventing or mitigating any attack of influenza” and that “The producers of these vaccines know they are worthless, but they go on selling them anyway.”

And in November 2007, the UK newspaper The Scotsman, made public warnings by the inventor of the “flu jab,” Dr. Graeme Laver.

Dr. Laver was a major Australian scientist involved in the invention of a flu vaccine, in addition to playing a leading scientific role in the discovery of anti-flu drugs. He went on record as saying the vaccine he helped to create was ineffective and [that] natural infection with the flu was safer. “I have never been impressed with its efficacy,” said Dr. Laver.”

You can read more about it here: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/11/17/Obama-Administration-Launches-Deceptive-Swine-Flu-Propaganda-Blitz.aspx

I hope this helps you make the right decision about this harmful vaccine, and in learning what to believe that comes from the government.

For example, I’m risking being shut down just writing those words. The supreme court is even getting involved, maybe that body can put a halt to some of the insanity.

Mostly, I want to direct you to a page that gives you real information about the swine flu and what a hoax the drug companies are perpetrating for the sake of money.

Basically, the information behind the scare is full of holes. The current swine flu wasn’t as severe as they thought in the southern hemisphere which just came out of their flu season, why should we expect worse?

It seems, when looked at completely and logically, that this flu is no more dangerous than any other seasonal flu. But, I’ll let Dr. Mercola give you the straight dope in their swine flu update.

Here is are a couple of things that I recommend that you can do to protect yourself from any flu. I do these things most of the time anyway.

First, be sure to take vitamin D. It has been shown to increase the ability of the immune system to prevent the flu. Vitamin D activates the part of the immune system that seeks out and kills pathogens like the flu virus. 400 units a day is plenty, but take more for a few weeks if you are low.

Secondly, go out for at least a short walk every day. Walking moves the lymph which clears out pathogens like the flu. It is really hard if not impossible to get the flu if your lymph system is flowing regularly. It only takes 10 to 15 minutes to clear out the sludge from the day. Alternately, you can do <a href="The drug companies, media and government are getting out of hand with the flu scares they are making lately. Alternately, you can do minimal movement exercise which is demonstrated in the video at the link. A couple of days ago, a friend of mine, a little boy 8 years old, came down with the flu. We don’t know which one it was, but he had a fever of 104.5 at one point. Of course, his mother gave him something to bring that down, but if I had gotten there sooner he wouldn’t have needed it. What I did was open his lymph, and give him Congepelx from Standard Process. It only took a few hours until he wasn’t sleeping all the time, and he got hungry. The dosage for Congeplex if you have symptoms is six an hour for up to seven hours, or until the symptoms abate. I’ve never seen it fail in about a hundred cases. Then take three twice a day for another couple weeks. For my 8 year old friend who weighs about half what I do, three an hour. The capsules were too big for him, so we put the contents in a little juice. He didn’t think it tasted bad at all. I haven’t had a flu in years. The last couple of times were after a long flight, and I had Congeplex to knock it out quickly. That, plus a good nights sleep, and I was playing tourist just fine. Another supplement from Standard Process is Immuplex. It is very similar to Congeplex, but better as a preventative, though Congeplex can be used to prevent illness too. I just bought three bottles of Congeplex to pass around and have available for my friends. You might want to do the same. I hope you read Dr. Mercola, you won’t be nearly as afraid if you do.

This question came in on the comments for my 30 symptoms of adrenal fatigue article. I thought I’d answer here.

Q) My husband has polymyalgia rheumatica. He has been on Prednisone for almost two years, although the dosage is periodically reduced as his body will tolerate. I recently researched the effects of Prednisone and found that the Prednisone is now doing the work for his adrenal glands, (if I understood that correctly).

So many of the symptoms of adrenal fatigue seem to fit what he is experiencing (at least 20 of the 30 listed), so I’m wondering if he shouldn’t ask his Rheumatologist to do the saliva test.

We’ve talked about trying to eliminate sugar from our diet as I have many of the 30 symptoms also as well as arthritis in some areas. We’re both so abnormally tired and we know this is just not normal.

Here are my questions:

With support and restoration of the adrenal glands, might my husband be able to get off of Prednisone?

If so, how much should he be doing on his own to restore his adrenals?

If the Prednisone is doing the work the adrenals would normally do, is it doing it well enough or could he have af because Prednisone doesn’t do it well enough?

Thank you for the information supplied on your blog. It has been extremely informative and easy to comprehend.

A) This is a very common condition affecting almost everyone over 50, with no known prevention or treatment other than steroids like Prednisone. At least, that’s according to the medical model. I disagree and think it is very preventable and treatable. It is a form of arthritis (or arthritis is a possible cause of the condition according to some texts).

I’m not a doctor, so I don’t know a lot about Prednisone, but I do know a little. It is possible to get off it, but it takes time. The dosage has to be cut slowly or there will be severe reactions. I’d recommend working with your doctor to be sure you are safe.

Prednisone doesn’t actually take over what the adrenals do. This gets complicated, so I won’t go very deep, but the drug is just one of the many hormones that the adrenal glands produce, but not all of them by any means. This drug does take a heavy toll on the adrenal glands though, so the system ends up running on different hormones to compensate. This is very stressful for the body with many side effects, including pain in the hips and shoulders which is where his condition tends to locate.

Your husband’s condition is inflammatory in nature. There are two major factors involved here, the liver (which produces C-reactive protein, the substance that causes inflammation, and Prednisone is very hard on the liver), and the body’s store of anti-inflammatories which come only from fish oils. I’d recommend a large dose if he’s not taking them or eating fish very regularly. (12 grams a day for a month or two is a large doss, and I’ve seen larger dosages. Not more than three months though as this high of a dosage eventually has a negative affect on the gallbladder.)

Arthritis is very treatable. There are hundreds of different types, but they don’t all require the same treatment. Mostly though, it is caused by the modern diet of sugar and processed carbs, so changing the diet is very important. Most likely polymyalgia rheumatica is due to toxins (environmental and diet) that need to be cleared. This is my oppenion from knowledge of such conditions.

There are also supplements and herbs that help restore the adrenal glands, but this can be a long process too since he’s in so deep and possibly elderly. It is my firm belief that the body wants to heal though, all it needs is a chance.

Your situation may not be as deep, but I suspect adrenal fatigue with you too. Here is an article with a brief list of treatments for adrenal exhaustion.

I wish you both the best in your quest for optimum health. It’s a long and often hard journey, but well worth it. You’re welcome to set up a phone time with me if you like. I don’t charge for short calls.

It’s Almost Impossible For Vegetarians To Heal

I got an email from a woman who’s having quite a few problems. She bought Self Adjusting Technique from me, and can’t get her neck to adjust.

She also has trouble with panic attacks that a chiropractic adjustment on her neck helps, but not for long.

She doesn’t eat sugar, but is vegan and only eats whole buckwheat, quinoa ad other non-glutinous grains.

She also uses a massager and take detox and nervine herbs to relax her, and to help clear Candida.

I thought I’d post my response to her since I run into so many vegans. It really isn’t a dietary model that works for humans, especially when ill already.

In case you don’t know, a vegan eats nothing that comes from animals including eggs and dairy.

Hi (name withheld),

I have quite a few suggestions.

First, there is a video on my youtube channel, Kalidasab, that teaches a massage technique for the neck. It’ll really help you out.

Second, the yeast isn’t going away for two reasons. First, you almost definitely have heavy metal toxicity which masks pathogens from the immune system. You’ll have to eliminate the metals before the yeast will clear up. Unless….

Now, this is a big unless for you as a vegan. Our bodies evolved eating animal protein, 90 percent according to recent archaeological discoveries. Most people simply can not be healthy unless they eat animal protein. I eat what is sometimes called the paleolithic diet, called that because it’s what our ancestors ate prehistory, in very ancient times. I eat only animal protein, fish, chicken, turkey and limited beef and pork with plenty of vegetables and some fruit. You see, grains feed Candida as do oranges and other really sweet fruit. This also keeps the adrenal glands stronger which leads to my comments about panic attacks.

You can sweat to help get rid of the toxins you’re dealing with. Dry sauna is best, but a hot bath works too. 30 minutes is the ideal time to sweat. You might have to build up to it.

Panic attacks are caused by brain chemistry imbalance. I know you said that you get relief when your neck is adjusted, but the root is still in the brain. And, the brain gets that way from the adrenal glands producing too much cortosol which attacks the hypothalamus which influences the rest of the brain causing the imbalance. I really doubt that you will be able to get really healthy unless you eat animal protein.

Now, I realize this may not be possible for you for philosophical reasons. I’ve known plenty of people with that. If that’s the case, then only eat the grains whole and take bromalain. Bromalain is a digestive enzyme that most people lack that turns legumes (beans) and grain into usable protein. You don’t mention that you eat beans, so you definitely won’t be getting sufficient protein regardless. You simply must include all the amino acids, and make them usable with each meal. It takes two extra strength capsules of bromalain with each meal to make the combination work.

I say whole grains, because processed grains — grinding is processing, have a high glycemic index, that is they cause a lot of insulin to be released which causes a biochemical nightmare in your body that can result in the issues you have. There’s a fair amount of info on my blog about all of this, you can read or listen to the posts in the adrenal category.

There’s a lot more you might like to know, but this is a really good start.

Best,

Answering the reader's question, "What causes a person who has this chronic fatigue syndrome in their body to go into free-fall with slight physical trauma?"

Chronic fatigue syndrome, or CFS, can be a rather complicated issue. Certainly, the adrenals are involved in most cases. But, there can be many other factors that are either major contributors, or they complicate maters.

I got a question today about chronic fatigue syndrome. She summarized her questions:

1. What causes a person who has this chronic fatigue syndrome etc. in their body to go into free-fall with slight physical trauma?

2. Can this “achilles heel” be overcome, so every little fall or bump wouldn’t cause a potential disaster?

3. Apart from your posted adrenal articles (which I have read and continue to reference), do you have any thoughts for my situation? With a business, I have too many responsibilities to stay out of commission and rest all the time. I do rest A LOT, but the stress of holding up the progress of the business is hard on me….esp. when moving the business along will provide the much needed dollars to get better physically.

Number 2 is a simple “yes.” More on that to follow.

Number 3 has to do with the rest of what she said in the email having to do with how everything is affected by her condition, thinking, heavy reactions to not so heavy traumas, etc.

She also says she was able to get help from a healer that cost here $5000. Boy, I sure wish I made that much off clients when I had a regular practice! Not really. Mostly I would see people one to five times, mostly on the shorter side of that. Occasionally, I might see someone more, and I have one client that has been coming to me for years.

I usually educate my clients so they would know how to take care of themselves and stay healthy. Now I do the same thing through this medium. Thank you all for participating.

On to her first question.

Chronic fatigue syndrome, or CFS, can be a rather complicated issue. Certainly, the adrenals are involved in most cases. But, there can be many other factors that are either major contributors, or they complicate maters. There’s no way I can go into all of that now. That would be a book that I would like to write soon.

On one level, all disease is due to either a deficiency or a toxicity. The emotional and spiritual levels are the other levels to look at, and they are each a discussion of their own.

Deficiency is part of what causes adrenal fatigue. And, there are other energy systems in the body that can also be deficient. ATP, or the little batteries that each cell has in them, zinc to copper ratio that has to be pretty exact, anemia — three different kinds and organ dysfunction are the ones that come to mind right away.

Toxicity can be a really big factor in chronic fatigue syndrome. This can be due to a pathogenic infection, improper disposal of waist by the body, heavy metals and chemicals either from the environment or diet.

For chronic fatigue syndrome, pathogens like Epstein Barr are very often a big factor. And lately, many people contract Lyme disease which is incredibly difficult to deal with.

Is it any wonder why the body/brain would react so heavily to the slightest trauma with so much going on? One of the main reasons is that the brain can be deeply affected.

With adrenal fatigue, the brain chemistry is automatically out of balance. It has to do with the hypothalamus in the HPA axis I discussed in an earlier article. I like working with brain chemistry because it tells you the root need of the whole system. As the brain chemistry comes back into balance, mostly through supplementation, symptoms, even minor ones that the person didn’t think much about, just start to go away.

As usual, this turned into a long article, and I didn’t even get into any specifics about chronic fatigue syndrome. Keep asking those questions though, they inspire posts, and hopefully will help many more people than the one that asked in the first place.

There is a lot of fear with the latest outbreak of swine flu, or influenza, this year. But, it doesn’t worry me at all. There are several reasons why, here are some of them. And, what you can do to keep from worrying too.

First, on a personal level, I am extremely healthy. I know how to take care of myself, and I do it too. I just don’t get sick, and if I do it’s minor. That’s not going to help most of you though, but the rest of this article will. But, you can try to eat better and eliminate processed foods while the swine flu is making its rounds of the planet.

The flu, from the point of view of Applied Kinesiology, is very easy to deal with. There are techniques that will completely eradicate a flu in just a few days. For the best results though, you need to visit a practitioner to have the treatment done on you. I can do a lot of it by phone, and there are some things you can do yourself, both to prevent the flu, and to deal with it if you get sick.

The first thing is to make sure you have enough vitamin D. Vitamin D, actually a hormone, activates the part of the immune system that eradicates viruses like the flu. You can get D from exposure to sunlight, but not so much the further away from the equator you are, especially in the winter, as well as some time before and after. Dosage should be at least 1000 iu a day, but more, as much as 25,000 iu a day, can be safely taken for two to four weeks.

The other thing that is of great importance is keeping the lymph moving.

There are actually two circulatory systems in the body, blood and lymph. Blood brings nutrients to the cells, and lymph takes toxins away. As lymph moves through the lymph nodes, bacteria and viruses are killed off. If lymph movement stops, then the pathogens have a chance to build up to toxic levels making you sick.

Lymph only moves with the action of the long muscles of the arms and legs. In other words, walking. I recommend that people walk on a regular basis for exercise, and if they just don’t make it out, then at least a daily 10 minute walk, what I call a “sludge walk,” will get rid of the build up of waste in the lymph.

If you don’t walk enough, if you are sedentary, the lymph glands and lymph pumps can become clogged. At that point, it doesn’t matter if you walk or not, the lymph won’t be able to move through the clogged areas. There is a solution though.

You can open the lymph pumps with the help of a friend. I have a video on youtube that is okay, and another that I need to edit and put on soon because of this crisis. Here is the video for your convenience, and here is the link for how to open the lymph in case the player doesn’t show in your browser.

If your lymph does get clogged up, and you are sick, you want to move the lymph, but it is better that you don’t produce more lymph. While walking will move the lymph, it also produces lymph, which you already have an abundance of. So, you need to do minimal movement exercise which will move the lymph without making more. 10 minutes twice a day is what most people need, though some need to do it three times a day.

The last thing I want to tell you about is a product from Standard Process called Congeplex. Congeplex is a complex of nutrients that has a devastating effect on the influenza virus. Swine flu doesn’t stand a chance if you have a big bottle or two of Congeplex in your cabinet.

If you get the flu, six capsules an hour for up to eight hours will knock it out most of the time, without food is okay for this purpose. Take it at that rate until the symptoms abate, usually in three to five hours. After the symptoms are mostly gone, you can lower the dosage to six three times a day, with food for another two weeks or so.

Sorry, one final thing. Congeplex is very similar to Immuniplex also from Standard Process is a little better at preventing the flu than Congeplex. Four twice a day will really help keep your immune system strong against the flu.

Those are the main thing you can do to cure and prevent swine flu. I hope you don’t catch it, and if you do, feel free to contact me. Remember, you can call me with the button at the bottom of this and every post.

Best,
Kalidasa

Edit: I got this article today, a day after publishing this one, from Dr. Mercola. It blows the idea of the flu being a deadly problem out of the water completely. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2009/04/29/Swine-Flu.aspx

Fortunately I know about broken bone healing, which is a good thing since I got one three days ago.

Here’s what happened:

I had a crash a couple of days ago. I don’t call it an “accident” because the guy ran a very old red light. Sped up to get through too. So, there was nothing accidental about it, just more, how can I say this gently, well, I can’t really, it was just plain stupidity. Perhaps on my part too.

Driving around in Bali is very scarry, and dangerous to begin with. I watch out all the time, especially on a motorcycle. My part in it was that I was being too careful watching the guy on my right trying to hit me from that side. Remember, they drive on the left side here. So, I missed the guy running the light on the left.

Fortunately, I wasn’t going that fast, and I hit the side of the car. I would have been a projectile had he hit me with the front of his car and would have had grievous injuries at best. He didn’t even slow down either. Or stop. The police caught him though.

Ah, the adventure of living in Bali for six months. I’m heading home in 10 days. Just missed having an accident free time here. Oh well, fate is.

I had a night living with the pain, then surgery the next morning to put in a plate. A night in the hospital, and I can type already. At least that’s possible, I like staying in touch with all of you.

Now all I have to do is heal from this. Which brings me to the real subject of this post. How to heal a broken bone in half of the time or better.

About three decades ago I started studying nutrition. My boss at the time broke his arm, and I had read that taking calcium will help broken bone healing considerably. Not very scientific actually, more just common sense. But, I told him, and he took some calcium.

My boss had to get his cast damaged on a fishing trip to get his doctor to change it, and he had to talk him into taking an x-ray. The doctor was very surprised to see that the bone was almost completely healed. That was at about four weeks, he was told eight. All it took was another week or so, and the doctor could barely see where the break was. In fact, he said that if he didn’t know where to look he wouldn’t see it.

From what I now know, he was pretty young, and that helped his healing. Now, information is much better, and there is a lot more biochemical proof of what works. Calcium of course, but then you need to make sure there is a proper balance of other nutrients so the calcium works correctly.

There is too much to include everything here, but definitely take calcium and magnesium, but at different times of day, they compete for the same receptor sites.

This whole thing has inspired me to create a very inexpensive and detailed report on how to heal bones quickly. I will make it available to my subscribers for free as I tend to do with things like this. Let me know if you’d like a copy, it’ll help inspire me to get it together faster.

Unfortunately for me, most of the supplements I need won’t be available to me for another ten days or so when I get back to the US. So, my broken bone healing will be extended somewhat. But, I do have one product with me that should at least really help.

Wish me luck!

Best,

If you rely on popping aspirin anytime you begin to feel a headache coming on you’ll eventually create an aversion to the medicine and you’ll need to step up your dosage or find a more potent drug. It’s a vicious cycle and it won’t be over until you develop a natural way to kick your headaches. We’ve all had a headache and we all know how annoying they can be and how easy it is to go for the quick fix. If you’re ready to try something natural and healthy for your body then please consider these five all-natural tips:

Maintain a healthy sleep pattern. There is a lot of research out there that indicates how important it is to go to bed and wake up around the same time each day. Try to eliminate napping as a way to catch up on sleep. Oversleeping can also be a trigger for headaches. Over compensation or under compensation in the sleep department can be triggers as well.
Get your eyes checked. If you’re having a hard time with migraines then go get your eye checked. It’s recommended that you have an eye exam at least every two years. Eye disorders can be the root of your problems and if you feel any discomfort in your eyes you need to get them looked at as soon as possible.

Log each headache. When you start feeling a headache start noting all the particulars surrounding your headache. Write down what you had to eat for the previous 24 hours, note how long the headache persists and what medication you took to alleviate the pain. This will help you to figure out ways in the future of how to avoid headaches and how to treat them as they come.

Identify and avoid your triggers. If you’ve kept a diary of your headaches you’ll be able to start figuring out what brings your headaches on and then you can eliminate those triggers. Certainly some triggers like the weather cannot be avoided, but you can begin to figure out which ones are under your control which you can then start to erase from your day.

Pay attention to your relaxation techniques. Whether it’s listening to music, yoga or a massage make sure that you tend to the activity everyday for at least a half hour. Reducing stress can be a perfect way to eliminating future headaches.

Fibromyalgia is a painful condition in which pain is experienced in various parts of the body. And, the location of the pain often changes from day to day.

It is caused by fibroids that form in the body. They become lodged in the tissue causing pain.

The fibroids are very similar to the ones that sometimes form in women’s breasts. They often clear up when she quits drinking coffee. This is important as you’ll see in a minute.

Why Fibroids Form
The reason the fibroids form is because of incomplete breakdown of estrogens in the liver.

This part gets into a little heady with some biochemistry, it’s not too complicated, but a simplified version follows.

The liver detoxifies estrogen in three steps. In the first step a chemical group is added to the estrogen molecule that actually makes a very dangerous oxidative estrogen that can cause cancer. This is an oxidant, one of the things people take antioxidants for.

Normally this isn’t a problem, or at least it wasn’t when we ate a more wholesome diet that came from soil that was rich in nutrients. Now days, cancers that are driven by estrogens are some of the most virulent.

When there are enough nutrients, the liver then adds another chemical group in its process to make the estrogen water-soluble so it can be easily removed from the body.

This chemical group is called a methyl group. When it combines with the previous estrogen, the one that can cause cancer, it forms what is called a methylated estrogen. It is these methylated estrogens that cause fibroids to form. They also cause a form of prostate cancer in men that is usually benign.

B-12 as methylcobalamin has the methyl group that is needed for estrogens to go on to the next phase of detoxification. When people are really stuck in this phase I find that DMG, dimethyl glycine, works better. But, taking B-12 can help many things, and it is one of the supplements that people really need on a regular basis anyway.

The third step that the liver takes actually involves seven different possibilities. The most important one involves glutathione.

The Short Version
Estrogen breaks down in the liver in three steps. If the process stalls in either of the first two steps problems can happen.

In the first step the estrogen becomes a dangerous chemical that can cause cancer. In the second step the estrogen becomes a chemical that causes the formation of the fibroids that cause fibromyalgia.

The third step, where estrogen combines with glutathione, is where fibromyalgia is cured. Supplement for this step, and fibroids never form.

Glutathione
Glutathione is the master antioxidant. It is used more than any other antioxidant in the body. Boosting glutathione helps in many conditions. Antiaging, detoxification, weight loss, smoking, cancer prevention, heart disease, HIV are all conditions that can use glutathione for support.

Glutathione cannot be taken directly as a supplement. It doesn’t survive the intestinal tract. The only way to boost glutathione is to take the nutrients that make it up.

Okay, this gets just a little heady again. Simplified version follows.

First of all it needs enzymes. The only place these enzymes can be found are in foods of the broccoli family. This includes kale, cabbage, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, radishes and of course broccoli. One or more of these have to be eaten twice a week, about half a cup each time, to get the enzymes needed for the liver to do its job. And, it needs to be eaten raw as heat destroys enzymes.

For convenience you can get the same enzymes from a tea called Brassica tea. You can find out about it by going to http://brassicatea.com there is a distribution link on their site.

The first nutrient that is most commonly needed is selenium. It is one of the most common deficiencies that we have today. Even livestock are supplemented with selenium. There simply isn’t any left in the soil.

The usual dosage is 200-400 mcg per day. 600 mcg per day is the maximum that anyone would need to take. 600 mcg is actually a fairly large dose, and at that dosage selenium becomes toxic. Selenium cysteine is the only non-toxic form of selenium that there is. The only company that makes it is Metabolics.

The second most common nutrient needed to make up glutathione is enzyme activated B6. The technical name for it is pyradoxal 5 phosphate or P5P. The usual dosage to start with is 100 mg twice a day. After six weeks this can be dropped to a maintenance dose of 50 mg twice a day.

Both selenium and P5P are usually needed by everyone.

The other nutrients that are needed to form glutathione, listed in roughly the most common deficiency first order, are: zinc, cysteine. glutamate and glycine. And, sometimes the herb watercress is needed.

Increasing Glutathione Simplified
1) either eat raw broccoli family vegetables twice a week, or go to http://brassicatea.com and follow link to order some Brassica tea, any flavor, and drink one cup twice a week.

2) take 200 mcg of selenium cysteine by Metabolics twice a day.

3) take 100 mg of enzyme activated B6 (P5P) twice a day for six weeks, then take 50 mg twice a day.

4) determine if you are deficient in zinc and supplement as needed.

There is a zinc test that is a liquid zinc that you hold in your mouth for a minute and then swallow. If you don’t taste anything or you don’t taste much, you’re probably deficient in zinc.

You may also need glutamate, cysteine, and/or glycine. And, sometimes the herb watercress.

Conclusion
At the beginning of the article I mentioned coffee is a cause for fibroids and I said how cutting back on this would often reduce the amount of fibroids is that a women might have and her breast tissue. The reason this is important is because the liver also breaks down compounds in coffee, and when it is over tasked with this job, then the estrogens get backed up and don’t all get cleared. And, you can get deficient in glutathione.

The same thing happens when there’s a lot of stress. The stress hormones also go through the same three phases of detoxification in the liver. People with fibromyalgia often notice the symptoms worsening when there is more stress in their life.

This is also important for smokers, they tend to age faster because cigarette smoke uses up the glutathione at a very fast rate. Which of course would make fibromyalgia symptoms much worse.

Fibromyalgia will usually start to clear up in just a few days to a few weeks by taking, selenium, enzyme activated B6 and the enzymes found in broccoli family plants.

Since I usually give my clients selenium cysteine, they don’t need any additional cysteine. However zinc is a very common deficiency and that often needs to be added.

Diet and detoxification can also be important to eliminate anything that acts like an estrogen in the body. These are things like soy products, estrogen replacement creams, plastic bottles etc. But, that is a subject for another article.
