I start my discussion of what I do to help my clients by balancing the body’s sugar handling mechanisms as well as why this is so important.

When doing healing work there are several imbalances that almost everyone has. Of course, there are specific items that people need to have treated, but there are generalities.

The first systemic issue that I look at with every client is sugar handling, which I call the sugar circuit. Due to stress, diet and other factors, the sugar circuit is out of balance in almost everyone.

One of the most stressful things for the body to do is to deal with excess sugar. While the body is designed to handle sugar, the constant input of refined foods, sugar and even emotions causes problems. Eventually, the body’s ability to deal with sugar becomes compromised.

One reason the sugar circuit is important is because blood sugar balance is incredibly important. Powerful hormones are used to keep this balance, hormones that have other effects on the body besides just changing the how much sugar is in the blood. Many of these hormones come from the adrenal glands, a topic that I write a lot about.

Almost every organ and gland is involved in sugar handling, especially when there is an overwhelming increase in blood sugar. Certain hormones are released if blood sugar is too low (adrenal hormones), and others if it is too high (insulin from the pancreas).

Another problem is simple wear and tear on the body. Both insulin and sugar cause damage to the artery walls, little nicks that can leak. This is the damage that plaque on the artery walls patch. A build up of this plaque is what leads to a narrowing of the arteries and heart disease.

One of the main problems excess adrenal hormones cause is inflammation. Inflammation is the beginning of most major disease like cancer and heart disease. In general, the less inflammation the longer the life, and a higher quality life too.

I can go on and on as to what happens to the body when there is too much or too little sugar in the blood. Suffice to say, that both sides of that coin cause changes that lead to most major illnesses.

Sugar levels can be too high and too low at the same time, a real problem that causes many problems. There can be too much sugar in the blood and too little in the muscle, or visa versa.

I use applied kinesiology to balance the sugar circuit. This can be done in a number of ways. Over the years I have learned several different techniques. There has been an evolution that has led to dealing with the fight or flight response that comes with an out of balance sugar circuit.

I know, I have written a lot on the importance of a low glycemic diet, a diet that is low in sugar and processed foods. But, it is emotions that keep the body in a state of flight or flight.

Some of the same hormones used in keeping the blood sugar balance are stress hormones that are released when in the flight flight response that causes the body to go into overdrive. The only way to amp down is to release the emotions that caused the body to go into overdrive. I use applied kinesiology to do this.

The adrenal glands are the main glands that become overwhelmed when the sugar circuit is out of balance. Adrenal fatigue is one of he most common conditions there is.

Be sure to download the free adrenal healing information by clicking on the tab above. It will get you started on the path of healing your adrenal glands which are directly connected to the sugar circuit. And, there will be more information coming soon.

In this article I covered how excess sugar causes biochemical problems that involve the adrenal glands. And, some of the issues of excess sugar were addressed, inflammation and damage to the arteries. The emotional connection and the technique used to clear it were also discussed. I’ll continue from there next time.

Yesterday I wrote about how Applied Kinesiology started, and how I got to know my mentor Dr. G. Today continues with a very brief version of how I learned from my mentor.

Once I started observing Dr. G work I quickly became amazed at the power of the work he did. I didn’t even need to see any proof for myself, which I didn’t for the first couple of weeks, because his clients were all so excited by the healing they experienced.

His methods weren’t completely foreign to me as I had experienced a little of that type of work from a friend. I wasn’t sure about muscle testing, the diagnostic tool that many practitioners use, as I didn’t understand the science behind it. I have a very strong back ground in science having grown up with a father who was a NASA engineer. But, I kept an open mind and simply observed.

AK was like a new language to me. I could sit and watch what was going on, but didn’t have a clue as to what was really happening. It was like learning a language; I started to understand a couple of words, then a sentence or two would make sense until finally I was understanding the paragraphs and then the content.

I took tons of notes, furiously writing down pages of what my friend was doing. After I started to really understand what was going on he started to teach me specific techniques. What was really amazing is that he could teach me things very quickly. Once we were waiting in line for food and he taught me a technique that took him three repetitions of a workshop to finally get! Not because he was slow, rather the teacher simply couldn’t communicate what he was doing. Dr. G’s and my rapport continues like that to this day.

The really lucky thing for me was that I had already figured out how to do adjustments on people. I used a few close friends to practice on helping them to find back pain relief, fix their necks and ribs etc. From Dr. G I learned to find the root of the problem first, then do the adjustment. My success only increased.

I remember when I first did something truly remarkable for someone. I had a yoga student that was having a couple of serious issues. A young woman who had trouble sleeping, and her period had stopped. I actually didn’t really know what I was doing. All I did was balance a couple of systems and she was able to sleep that night through, and she started bleeding the next day. This is the kind of thing my mentor did all the time, and he had passed the knowledge on to me.

I have been really graced in this life. I have had six amazing beings teach me, each from a depth that still astounds me. Dr. G was the last of these (so far), and I seemed to be an apt student.

Obviously, there is a lot more to this story, but I want to get on to what I actually learned and mostly, how I learned to apply it in a way that has made me a very successful healer. That I will start next time.

Dr. George Goodheart DC started Applied Kinesiology. I have been very fortunate to learn many of these modalities from a genius in them. Here’s the story.

Today I am starting a series on how I do healing work, my general approach and the things that most people tend to need in order to heal. Some of what is involved is controversial, but much of it has a basis in biochemistry. And, I will discuss the modalities that I use, there are several.

The main method I use is called Applied Kinesiology, or AK. Kinesiology is a medical method that has little to nothing to do with AK. Today I am going to tell a very brief version of how AK started and start the story of how I was fortunate enough to get involved.

AK was started in the 1960’s by a chiropractor named George Goodheart. What a great name! He knew something about Traditional Chinese Medicine — TCM as well.

He was working with TCM and muscle strength and started noticing that when certain acupuncture meridians were out of balance that specific muscles would be weak as well. He wondered if doing something to strengthen the muscle might affect the meridian and thereby the person’s health.

With some experiments he developed a method of strengthening these muscles, and the patient would get better. Something that Deepak Chopra later called Quantum Healing, or taking someone from a state of ill health into a state of health in a moment, a quantum leap.

Doctor Goodheart found a dozen or so practitioners that were interested in his work which he started teaching to them. Each of these people were brilliant as well, they had to be to see such an amazing opportunity! They all went on to create a different type of kinesiology coining their own terminology for what they were doing.

That was the beginning of energy medicine as some people call it. It has since grown to huge proportions with more methods than anyone could possibly learn. But, most have certain characteristics and similarities.

It was my great fortune to meet a chiropractor who knew at least a dozen of these different methods. A very good friend of mine was working for him. When I went in to visit my friend for lunch or whatever, the chiropractor would notice me, and eventually took a liking to me. One day he invited me in to watch him work.

Dr. G is a bit of a nerd. A great and brilliant guy, but quirky as brilliant people often are. All my friends are a little weird as am I, so this didn’t bother me at all. I recognized an opportunity and took it.

Fortunately, I worked for myself and my job had many gaps in it, so I was able to spend a considerable amount of time in Dr. G’s office observing. Also, he likes to talk about almost nothing but healing. This made for some wonderful lunches and after work dinners as well.

That is how AK was first started, and how I got involved with one of the most brilliant practitioners of AK in the world. This is my opinion of course, but I have only seen Dr. G fail at curing one case in years of observing him work.

Next time I’ll tell you more about how I learned from my mentor, and tell you more about the different types of energy medicine there are.
