Broken Bone Healing In Half The Time Or Better, My New Broken Arm

Fortunately I know about broken bone healing, which is a good thing since I got one three days ago.

Here’s what happened:

I had a crash a couple of days ago. I don’t call it an “accident” because the guy ran a very old red light. Sped up to get through too. So, there was nothing accidental about it, just more, how can I say this gently, well, I can’t really, it was just plain stupidity. Perhaps on my part too.

Driving around in Bali is very scarry, and dangerous to begin with. I watch out all the time, especially on a motorcycle. My part in it was that I was being too careful watching the guy on my right trying to hit me from that side. Remember, they drive on the left side here. So, I missed the guy running the light on the left.

Fortunately, I wasn’t going that fast, and I hit the side of the car. I would have been a projectile had he hit me with the front of his car and would have had grievous injuries at best. He didn’t even slow down either. Or stop. The police caught him though.

Ah, the adventure of living in Bali for six months. I’m heading home in 10 days. Just missed having an accident free time here. Oh well, fate is.

I had a night living with the pain, then surgery the next morning to put in a plate. A night in the hospital, and I can type already. At least that’s possible, I like staying in touch with all of you.

Now all I have to do is heal from this. Which brings me to the real subject of this post. How to heal a broken bone in half of the time or better.

About three decades ago I started studying nutrition. My boss at the time broke his arm, and I had read that taking calcium will help broken bone healing considerably. Not very scientific actually, more just common sense. But, I told him, and he took some calcium.

My boss had to get his cast damaged on a fishing trip to get his doctor to change it, and he had to talk him into taking an x-ray. The doctor was very surprised to see that the bone was almost completely healed. That was at about four weeks, he was told eight. All it took was another week or so, and the doctor could barely see where the break was. In fact, he said that if he didn’t know where to look he wouldn’t see it.

From what I now know, he was pretty young, and that helped his healing. Now, information is much better, and there is a lot more biochemical proof of what works. Calcium of course, but then you need to make sure there is a proper balance of other nutrients so the calcium works correctly.

There is too much to include everything here, but definitely take calcium and magnesium, but at different times of day, they compete for the same receptor sites.

This whole thing has inspired me to create a very inexpensive and detailed report on how to heal bones quickly. I will make it available to my subscribers for free as I tend to do with things like this. Let me know if you’d like a copy, it’ll help inspire me to get it together faster.

Unfortunately for me, most of the supplements I need won’t be available to me for another ten days or so when I get back to the US. So, my broken bone healing will be extended somewhat. But, I do have one product with me that should at least really help.

Wish me luck!

Best,
Kalidasa

Hello and welcome to my blog! There are several reasons I decided to start writing a blog on natural self-healing. The main thing I want to do is to share information on health and healing so that people can take action to heal themselves using natural techniques. I have met so many people who couldn't afford natural health care. They may have had health insurance, but they didn't trust that model. Many people want to know how to be healthy naturally. They want to know what really works and what doesn't. They want to be health conscious and often fail because of poor information, lack of knowledge, bad science and other factors. This blog is intended to help demystify the body and its various functions and to help people understand what is really needed to obtain optimum health. One of the great things about knowledge of the body is that once you know and understand how it works it becomes easy to know what the right things to do for it. And, it is much easier to do the right things when the consequences of the wrong things are fully understood. To do this I will be drawing from the knowledge of many people that I have learned from. I will talk about biochemistry relating that to what is needed to obtain optimum health. There will be information about the physical structure of the body and how to keep that aligned and functioning well. A major part of yoga has to do with health, so information about yogic techniques will be included. Mental and emotional health are important for the health of the body/mind, so articles about these topics will be included. And, there will be an occasional article about me and what I am up to. Hopefully I can relate that back to some health issue as well. The title Self Adjusting Technique comes from my technique for self-adjusting the structural part of the body, that is adjusting the body's various vertebrae and joints. For this blog it will include the idea of how to adjust health issues for yourself and those you care about. With a little knowledge there is a lot people can do to help heal themselves and stay healthy. I want to explain complex information about the body in a way that is easy to understand and useful. The comments section will help in that goal as people can ask for clarification if there is something they don't understand. And maybe we can get some helpful input from people smarter than me that will benefit us all. I hope you find information that can help you with your health issues. Kalidasa

    Hiya

    Kalidasa,

Really intrigued to hear about your theory on broken bones healing more quickly when taking supplements. I’ve got a suspected broken rib or ribs, but doctors won’t X-ray. Just say I’ve probably broken them. As I’m heading on a holiday where I’ll be throwing myself down the sides of a mountain on a bike in a month’s time, I am desperate to do whatever I can to help the bone heel. Currently after a week and two days, I’m still seeing stars every time I sneeze or cough.

    Any help gratefully appreciated.

Ok, here’s the short version. Standard Process products:
Calcifood 1/2 tablespoon twice a day, CalMa Plus three 2X a day, Ostrophine PMG three 2X a day, Whole desiccated spleen three 2X a day, cataplex F one three times a day (or 1am, 2pm). Mediherb echinacea premium (may be out of stock due to the flu scare, if so get the other one, it’s not as good, but still helpful) five ml twice a day, and Gotu Kola five ml twice a day. The herbs are best taken on an empty stomach (a few minutes before you eat is fine, but an hour before is best), and take the supplements with food.

Another issue is having enough HcL in the stomach to ionize the minerals to a useable form. I take Betaine Hydrochloride from SP (two with each meal, during the meal is best, but after is ok), but you need to clear h. pylori at least concurrently. brassicatea.com has a link where you can order their tea. Two cups a day for ten days will clear h. pylori.

A long time ago, I met someone who had recovered quickly from a devestating accident by taking supplements. More recently, a natural health physician told me that Mangosteen had helped her recover from some nerve damage suffered in an auto accident. Thanks for your submission to Take Charge of Your Health Care Carnival.

Curious to see if you were able to heal this bone quicker than anticipated. My son fracured his radius yesterday and is devestated that he’ll miss basketball season.

  • Kalidasa Jan 8, 2012, 6:25 pm

@Chris Sorry to hear about your son, that’s rough. I did heal pretty fast. The problem though was gaining the strength back, and there was some ligament issue in the elbow that took really long to heal. Not sure when he starts practice, but he’ll heal faster than I did because of his youth.

Shattered my ankle skiing before Christmas, they are telling me up to 6 months before I walk!! Ordered all my supplements this morning. Sure hope you are right and I can get the bone healed and move on to the therapy process quicker!

  • Kalidasa Jan 14, 2012, 10:49 am

@James Six months! I hope it is much faster than that too. I look forward to hearing from you in three or four months to see how you are doing. There’s supplements for the ligaments too that you may want to get to help speed that recovery. Ligaplex 2 from Standard Process is the best I’ve found.

  • James Jan 15, 2012, 4:30 pm

Thanks, they had to reattach at least one of the ligaments, ended up with one plate and nine screws. Broke the fibula clean, but the tibia was basically shattered on the end at the joint. No weight for 3 months, then a walking boot for the next 3 so you can see why I would be hopeful. Will keep you updated.

Had my 5 week xrays last week. 15 full days with all of the supplements and the doctor was impressed. I was 3 to 4 weeks ahead of where he thought I would be and said I had the bone growth of an 18 year old. Can’t wait to see the xrays at the 8 week mark!

You should give Cissus Quadrangularis (bit of a moutful) a try. It’s an ancient ayurvedic herb famed for it’s Fracture healing properties. Many studies done on it. It stimulates Osteoblast creation and other things i’m not qualified to say 🙂

In any case, im currently nursing a scaphoid after a bone graft, screw, and cast. 1.5 months to go (of 4 months). Did the initial injury in 1996, which developed into a non-union over the next 10 years or so, but I was also bodybuilding too. Just had a new xray/cast change this morning and the doc said healing was “better than expected”. I am doing 3×3 cissus per day, L-Arginine, Calcium + Vit D3, ZMA and GABA before bed, and Glutamine & BCAA’s in the morning. Gonne heal this thing!

  • Kalidasa Mar 13, 2012, 2:08 pm

@Danny. I haven’t head of Cissus Quadrangularis, but will research it, maybe try it on a client some time. I hope it does its job for you!

I am now 14 weeks since surgery. At my 12 week checkup the doctor simply said, “Wow, I don’t know what it is you are doing but you are doing something right.” I followed strictly the supplements outlined by Kalidasa along with a healthy diet cutting out all caffeine, soda, most sugars, and cut way back on animal fats. He cleared me to go without the boot, which he originally said would take until late May. On a side note, the physical therapists are impressed with how well the range of motion is coming back, and the fact that I don’t swell as a normal patient after a break this severe would. Thank you is all I can say for helping me beat this fracture in half the time.

Thanks for keeping us updated, James. And, congratulations on getting back on your feet! I’m really happy for you.
