@gloria, You'd do well to eliminate the bread and pasta. Even at your age it sounds like your basic health is fairly good, though herbs and supplements will likely help a lot.

@Stephanie, Whole desiccated adrenal should only be taken short term because it can overwhelm the adrenals. It should only be used to get them going when extremely exhausted. Also, it will have a similar effect on babies either when pregnant or nursing, so should be avoided. The next step after whole adrenal is to nourish the adrenals and give the body something to help it adapt to its stress. Drenamine has drenatrophine in it which tells the adrenals to rebuild -- also not the best thing for babies either. Some nursing mothers might be able to take it right after a big feeding when the baby is expected to go down for a few hours. Even herbs that help adapt aren't very good for babies. Taking b vitamins and extra pantothenic acid, niacin amide (has to be amide) and b12 with more vitamin C is a good protocol for nursing mothers. There's more info in my adrenal fatigue book if you'd like.

Also, you are probably in fight or flight. I can clear this over the phone if you want.

I would worry too much about the T3 levels. They are at the top of normal and probably that way from the supplements you're taking. You can go off them for a couple of days and retest to be sure, or not worry since you still have three tenths to go to be high.

No mater how you think your body is working with a particular food, pasta is not helping at all. In fact, it may be the primary problem. Try going off all wheat for three weeks then have some, that will convince you.

Hello! I have been put on SP Adrenal Desicated a few times in my life. It has always helped tremendously! I am 29 years old. I just had my sixth child in nine years, single births. I am still breastfeeding. I know my adrenals have been weak since high school, only being normalized for short periods of time. The last time I was on AD was last summer while pregnant. I was also given SP Prolomine Iodine and B6. I only went off because I felt so good I forgot I needed them. I have been feeling awful in the last few months. Three weeks ago I put myself back on all three supplements. My doctor had told me 5 AD tablets 3 times a day. Then less, but that I'd need to take an adrenal supplement almost daily for the rest of my life--especially in times of stress. This last round I took 1 or 2 doses of 5 a day until the 90 tablet bottle was empty. I took 1 a day of B6 and iodine. As soon as I was out of the AD my energy dropped, my sleep schedule changed and the brain fog hit hard. I had a blood test last week while still on the B6 and iodine but not the AD. My T3 level was 4.1--that is the only level I was given over the phone. I wonder if the results are wrong because of the iodine. I was planning on going in today to get more AD. From what you have said, my doctor has me on too high a dose, but I seem to thrive on that. What is safe and for how long? Now what should my next step be with the hyperthyroid? Should I return to my natural doctor or see my primary? What other supplements should I suggest? I should say that I have been on some of SP's other adrenal supplements and none of them have helped the way AD has. I have also done the grain free, sugar free diet (long enough to get past the clearing stage) and was only weaker. My body type seems to need red meat and pasta daily. Thank you so much for your time!

@Alex, there are other things that can cause your symptoms. Are there any other symptoms? You might try a simple adrenal fatigue test. Also, the standard thyroid test is not very good, blood work only tells part of the story.

My head feels hot most of the time like i have a fever but i dont. My head feels like it is radiating heat, it gets worse when i am around heat sources. It allso gets worse at night for some reason. I have had theses problems for 4 months. My hands are allso cold all the time since i have had this problem. Any ideas?

@Kelly, the artificial cortisone could be a good treatment, at least temporarily. There are other natural treatments that might be better though. If the adrenals are completely shut down the natural methods may not work. Hard to say unless I see or talk with you.

@Benjie Petersen There are two ways to take it. One three times a day for up to a month, and one every waking hour till five hours before bed for three to ten days. I wouldn't know the exact for you without seeing or at leas talking with you.

@Denise, I'm not sure. Probably keep taking it, but I can't be sure without seeing you. Sometimes symptoms can worsen before they get better, but that's not usual with desiccated adrenal. You could have an allergy to it, or it could just be the wrong thing.

Hi there. I have Neurally Mediated Hypotension (as well as POTS Syndrome). I have been pretty much bedridden since 2010. My doctor just prescribed Cortef and I am hesitant to take it. I have been through massive trauma in 2010 being hospitalized so many times and being put on tons of medications. In 2011 I just basically rested. I am beyond exhausted - like waking up in cement. I have been seeing a Naturopath who had me on a fruit only 'detox' - I ended up in the hospital. What are your thoughts on Cortef? My adrenals are beyond 'moderately fatigued'. I wish I could talk to you personally. This is a living nightmare.
