A question today asks about healing the HPA axis if the emotion is ongoing. I don’t want to give too many details for privacy reasons, but the issue is with money and her husband with emotional issues due to severe emotional abuse and financial issues growing up. Top it off with debt caused by her digestive issues, and you have some pretty serious problems for a young couple to be dealing with. 

The first thing I would suggest is having the emotions cleared regularly with a technique like the Emotion Code. I’ll teach her how to do the technique herself to help  relieve their emotional stress. Of course, anyone can contact me to get a phone session that is billed on a sliding scale, especially if you have serious money issues too. 

While this will help, the real life issue is ongoing, so relieving the emotional stress in this case is difficult. But, that doesn’t necessarily mean impossible. Continually releasing the emotions with a technique like the Emotion Code can help change your general position, your attitude, about what is going on. 

In other words, you can grow out of being deeply affected by negative emotions. It may  take time, and it may not be complete, but relief is possible. 

And, there are other great techniques. Meditation and therapy can have a great effect on emotional balance through personal growth. It takes time and effort, but the rewards are well worth it.

She also mentions that she has gastrointestinal issues that have cost them a lot of money. It is hard to give the right suggestion without more information, but most GI problems can be cleared with diet. Some may need some supplements and a good colon detox is generally a good idea with GI problems. 

The best thing anyone can do for themselves is an elimination diet. You don’t need to have a problem you are aware of to benefit either. Finding out what foods your body reacts to can be life changing. 

The method is simple enough. Eliminate all the main foods that cause problems for three weeks, then add them back slowly over time to see if there is a reaction. It is possible to eliminate a few of the foods at a time, but that method may not be quite as telling. 

The main foods to eliminate are oats, corn, wheat, ALL forms of sugar (including honey, raw sugar, maple syrup etc.), dairy, trans fats, soy, and eggs. After three weeks without the food that has a negative effect on you, you will react to it when it is reintroduced. 

Usually, it’s the one you miss the most, so start with that one. Eat it regularly for three days or until you react to it, then add another. Once you react to a problem food it is fairly easy to stay away from it.

She does say that her issue is digestion. Digestive enzymes could help, but I would need to know more. Usually pancreatic digestive enzymes will help most digestive problems. 

And, most people need hydrochloric acid, but taking it without clearing H.pylori can cause ulcers. You clear that with a product called Brassica Tea, two cups a day for ten days. That will also eliminate stomach ulcers since H. pylori is the cause. You can read more about the need for hydrochloric acid and its benefits in this article

There is a little more to taking enzymes, but that is another article or two including the one on HCL and alkalizing your body.

To summarize, eliminate negative emotions and foods you react to and most people will be free from most health problems. Add a few supplements and a detox and unless your issue is severe, you will likely be in for a long and healthy life.

Neck Pain Issues

Neck pain can be complicated to heal because of how complex the bones, muscles and ligaments in the neck are, not to mention the connections to the upper back. Misalignments and tight muscles in the neck and upper back can combine to make a big mess of pain. But, it isn’t that hard to unravel with a little knowledge, most of which is here on SelfAdjustingTechnique.com.

One neck issue that is all too common is a buging disc between C5 and C6. Pain first happens in the neck which can be constant. The second thing that happens all too often is that the disc compresses on the nerve that runs down the arm. This can cause tingling in the neck and arm which often turns painful.

Like so many other health issues the main cause of this neck pain is sugar and processed foods that release their stored sugar quickly. This causes problems in the body’s sugar handling mechanism. The information from this system is conveyed to the brain via the vegus nerve which splits off at C5 in the neck.

This causes something like a traffic jam where all the nerves come together with the excess sugar information from the gut which gets jammed up at C5. That jam up causes C5 to rotate out of alignment. Eventually the disc below and sometimes the one above will bulge. There’s a little more to it that you can read about here.

If a bulging disc remains untreated long enough, it can rupture. That is, it breaks open in such a way that the contents spill out into the surrounding tissue. That is when the real pain is most likely to set in. And, there isn’t much that can be done about it, not to a high degree of success anyway. Oh, there are holistic treatments, and surgical remedies, but the success rate of both isn’t as high as you would like it to be. Suffice to say, you want to get your neck taken care of before the problem goes that far!

A much more minor issue is waking up with neck pain. You sleep crooked and wake up with a problem you think you have to live with it until it works itself out. But, it doesn’t really work itself out, at least not for a few days. Usually, that is a simple misalignment combined with tight muscles. That is actually pretty easy to take care of yourself with just a couple of easy to learn techniques, including Self Adjusting Technique.

One of the worst kinds of neck pain is one that doesn’t go away even with a chiropractic adjustment. These are the kind of problems that drives most chiropractors crazy. Fortunately, more and more of them are learning how to deal with hidden issues such as trapped emotions.

Yes, emotions can and do get trapped in the muscles and connective tissues around joints. The tension from these emotional components cause tension in the nearby muscles which can pull joints out of alignment. Then, the area gets adjusted only to pull itslef out of alignment again!

Releasing emotional components that are trapped in muscles takes a different skill alltogether. The technique I use is called The Emotion Code. Back Pain Heart Treatment

This article on lower back pain that is caused by a broken heart discusses one way that lower back pain is related to a heart issue. This is called a cardiac back which is usually caused by a broken heart like a break up or the death of a loved one. However, it can also be from cardiovascular (CV) disease, and it can lead to a heart attack.

While cardiac back almost always happens in the lower back, the CV disease type can occur in in the middle back behind the heart. The discomfort may not be consistent, and can happen when tired, or after doing too much. This can be a common issue with older people, especially if they already have a CV issue.

There is a standard treatment for cardiac back is done with Applied Kinesiology (AK). You can test for cardiac back on your friends and loved ones, or you can have someone test you. And, there is a simplified treatment that you might be able to use so you can use for yourself.

First, you will need to know how to muscle test. Muscle testing is an AK diagnostic tool that isn’t hard to learn, but does take practice to become proficient. There are also plenty of videos on youtube that you can learn from. I will do an article and video soon that covers some aspects that no one else does. They can be found in Self Adjusting Technique.

The test for cardiac back is to place the edge of your hand, pinky side, on the lower back where the deepest inward curve is as shown in the picture above. The action is just a gentle karate chop to the lower back. Maintain that contact with the lower back while testing the indicator muscle with your other hand. The indicator muscle going weak means cardiac back is present.

The test needs to be done three times with the person being tested in three different positions; sitting, lying on their side and standing. The order doesn’t matter, nor does the side they lie on. They can go weak in any or all of the positions. The treatment, or treatments, are done in whichever position they are in when they go weak.

The AK treatment is rather complex involving stimulating various acupuncture and neuro lymphatic points. And, the specific points vary from person to person. All of this can be discovered using muscle testing. And of course, the energy healing short cut mentioned earlier is a much easier way to do the treatment.

Treating cardiac back with the energy flow technique is very easy to do. The only limit is that the practitioner needs to be able to run energy as described in this article. The simple treatment is to have the client ( the person with the cardiac back issue) get into the position they go weak in with the test. The practitioner holds their hand on the client’s back as if doing the test, then runs energy as described earlier. Be sure to retest to make sure the treatment worked. And of course, do the treatment in each position they went weak in.

The whole procedure can be done even faster. Start with the client in one of the positions, chop the back, test the muscle as you hold the chop, run the energy if they went weak and retest. Do that in each of the positions, and you are done. With a little practice it takes less than three minutes to test and treat all three positions.

This is an example of what is often called quantum healing which happens when the effects of a treatment, especially energy techniques, is immediate. This is becoming more and more common place in various.holistic healing techniques, and is something I’ve seen numerous times. And, many of the methods aren’t hard to learn at all.

Hip Pain

There are different causes of hip pain. One of the main causes, probably the main cause, is the same as the main cause of lower back pain; adrenal fatigue. But, there are other causes and treatments that we’ll cover here.

While the root cause of most hip pain is adrenal fatigue, the main issue, what causes the pain, is a misalignment. If there is adrenal fatigue it isn’t always helpful to adjust the hips. In fact, adjusting the area, even using the gentle methods of Self Adjusting Technique, can cause more pain.

But, if the cause of the misalignment is something other than adrenal fatigue, then the best treatment is usually to adjust the area. While a chiropractor can cost a decent amount of money, doing it yourself only costs you a few minutes. And, you can relieve your pain instantly rather than waiting for an open appointment. Of course, you can take drugs, but that has its own problems.

Another very common cause of hip pain is an accident. It can be as simple as falling down, or even just bumping into something. Simply knocking any joint out of alignment is easy to fix with a simple adjustment.

Another issue with any misaligned joint has to do with stress. Emotional stress can cause joints to not stay in alignment even if they are professionally adjusted. Clearing emotions can be done with a technique called The Emotion Code, you can learn how with this video, it’s unlisted, so please keep it to yourself. If you know what is causing you stress then you can use the technique yourself.

But, if you don’t know what your issue is, or are not sure you have two choices. You can just run the technique on every issue you can think of. Or, you can find someone who knows how to do muscle testing to find the specific issue.

Once the emotion is cleared, the adjustment is more likely to stay. Unless there is something else blocking the adjustment. For example there could be inflammation from the joint being out, or there could be a connective tissue issue, or something could be damaged. There are several others, but these are the main causes.

Whatever the issue, the first thing to try is adjusting the area. If you are using Self Adjusting Technique you need to pay attention while doing the adjustment to see if the pain increases or not, or simply notice if it feels weird when you start doing the adjustment.

For example, if you are using the blocking technique you will probably notice right away that things just don’t feel right. This will likely happen when you just start to put weight on the first block, if not it may be when you start to relax into the second block. Note for those without the book: the blocks are simply pillows or folded up cloth that you lie on in a way that the hips can release back into alignment.

Or, you might try the Self Adjusting walking technique. In that case, you would notice if it felt right or not after only a step or two. Fortunately in this case, it is really hard to hurt yourself even if you are doing it wrong. That is one of the best aspects of Self Adjusting Technique, the techniques are so gentle that you can’t hurt yourself.

Rib Pain Causes And Treatment

There are several reasons your ribs might be in pain. If you had an accident that caused them to be struck then you could have a cracked or broken rib. Or, there could be a simple bruise or pulled muscle. However, the most common cause of rib pain is when one or more are out of alignment.

If you have difficulty with deep breathing without localized pain in your ribs then you likely have one of the above issues. There isn’t much that can be done with a broken or cracked rib. All any doctor will do is x ray the area and maybe wrap you with an elastic bandage. There simply isn’t much that can be done. But, a misaligned rib can be treated, often even with a self applied treatment.

In the back, the ribs are connected to the spin with an interesting joint that is different from others in the body. The same applies to the front where they connect to the sternum. When these areas are dislocated the pain is usually quite severe. But, that is fairly rare. When they go slightly out of alignment the pain can be somewhat bad, but is usually bearable. Fortunately, you don’t have to bear it!

Ribs are constantly going in and out of alignment. You probably won’t notice because they usually go back fairly soon after slipping out. But, once they have been out for awhile the muscles will start to become inflamed from their efforts to pull the rib back into alignment. Then, the surrounding muscles, ligaments and other tissues can become inflamed causing more pain.

The remedy is to simply put them back! A chiropractor will gladly do this for you, but it’s going to cost a fair amount of money. Self adjusting is much cheaper, but the technique takes a little practice. And, you will need a massage tool to self adjust the ribs that you can’t reach in back. But, the cost of the book that teaches the technique and massage tool is usually less than a single chiropractic adjustment.

Another way to deal with it is to have a friend adjust the rib for you. They might be able to do it the way a chiropractor does which uses force that causes cracking and often hurts, but that takes training. But, they can easily learn to do it a very gentle way that doesn’t crack. It still takes a little skill, and some strength, but most people can learn from it from the video. It really isn’t that hard.

The Number One Cause Of Lower Back Pain

Lower back pain is the most common back pain complaint there is. There are many different causes of lower back pain, but one stands out as the most common, perhaps more that 80 percent of the time. Adrenal fatigue affects almost everyone at some point in their life, and as they get older it often becomes a chronic condition that isn’t even acknowledged by the medical community.

How the adrenals have such a strong effect on lower back pain has to do with the adrenal glands need the same nutrients as ligaments and tendons need. And, since the tendons in the lower back have more pressure on them than any other they tend to lose strength before any other.

If this type of lower back pain continues long enough, the discs in the low back will start to bulge. Usually it is the one between L5 and the sacrum that will bulge, but sometimes the disc between L4 and L5 can be affected.

Adrenal fatigue lower back pain can almost always be treated by treating the adrenals holistically. Bulging discs can be successfully treated using holistic methods about 95 percent of the time, often by simply treating the adrenals, but sometimes other techniques are needed.

If a bulging disc is left untreated long enough there is a very good chance it will herniate, that is it will break in such a way that the contents will leak out into the surrounding tissue. This is usually very painful. A herniated disc can be treated holistically, but it takes a very long time and isn’t always successful. While there are surgeries that can help, they aren’t always successful. Often a combination of surgery and holistic treatment works best.

Most doctors consider that the adrenal glands are functioning or they aren’t. For them there is no grey area where they can be partially functional, or partially dysfunctional. Holistic healers have long known that the adrenals can be less than fully functional, and that they can be healed. easily in most cases.

The adrenals become weakened by stress. They are designed to deal with stress by releasing very powerful hormones to compensate for what happens in the body. Dietary stress is usually the main factor though emotional and environmental stress can contribute, or even be the primary cause.

The adrenals respond to stress by compensating with hormones that are designed for survival. They are there to get the person away from the situation, or allow them to fight for their life, the fight or flight response. If the stress continues for a long time the adrenals cease to be able to respond which is when serious problems like lower back pain happen.

While the body is designed to deal with stress through the use of these powerful hormones, we didn’t evolve to deal with stress happening all day every day! And, that causes its own set of problems.

One of the problems caused by persistent stress is that the adrenals become exhausted. Try as they might, they just can’t keep up. One reason is the nutrients needed to make the hormones become depleted. Another cause is just sheer exhaustion! They can only do so much before they cease to function normally which is greatly compounded by the lack of the nutrients they need to function.

Different holistic systems say there are either three, four or five phases of adrenal exhaustion depending on which system you study. But, they all agree that by the time you get to phase three adrenal exhaustion you will have several symptoms. Check out 50 symptoms of adrenal fatigue to see which ones you have.

The most common cause of adrenal exhaustion, the most common stressor, is a diet rich in sugar and processed foods. Processed foods are made with grains that have been ground and made into products like bread, chips, pasta and such, pretty much what most people in first world countries eat several times a day. And, that means stress several times a day!

Healing adrenal fatigue related lower back pain requires a lifestyle change for most people. There are herbs and supplements that can greatly speed up the process, but they are mostly useless without removing the stress that caused the condition in the first place. But, if all you do is change your diet, then you are most of the way to ending your lower back pain.

Balance Sugar And Reverse Diabetes

The one thing the human body always strives to keep in perfect balance is the amount of sugar in the blood. It will do everything it can to keep the level perfect, even at the expense of every other system. This can cause great harm if we  don’t give it some help. 

In fact, almost all modern disease conditions are caused by blood sugar problems, or more accurately, by the body striving by all means to keep that balance in the face of high blood sugar. This includes heart disease, cancer, depression, anxiety, diabetes, most forms of arthritis, insomnia, most gut problems and a lot more, all the way down to acne. 

There are a couple of Applied Kinesiology (AK) tests to find sugar circuit imbalance. The two main tests are demonstrated in the video above. I won’t describe them in detail here since it is much easier to watch the short video. The second test is a muscle test for what is called a psychological reversal. 

There are several different psychological reversals. One has to do with being locked into a major state of fight or flight. There are a lot of problems that can come from being in a permanent state of fight or flight, one of them is that the sugar circuit will be out of balance. 

Most of the body’s systems are turned off when it is in fight or flight, most are mentioned in the article linked above. In fact, only two or three systems are left to function; the ones that help you run away or fight for your life. Everything else is turned off in favor of survival from imminent threat.

You feel hungry when blood sugar is low. Blood sugar goes up when you eat which makes you stop feeling hungry. This is especially true when we eat carbohydrates which includes vegetables. That is normal, what is supposed to happen. It is what the body was designed to do. 

But, there is a big problem if the sugar levels are really high like after eating a sugary treat, or a big meal of fast carbs like pasta. When that happens, the body responds by sending out too much insulin. 

Humans didn’t evolve with an ever present availability of fast carbohydrates like sugar and ground up grains (bread, pasta, chips etc.). It doesn’t have a way to deal well with our modern diet, at least not several times a day all year long.

The excess insulin drives too much sugar into the muscles and liver where they are converted to triglycerides which are stored in fat tissue. Triglycerides are what cause “cholesterol problems,” not eating fats like so many people believe from years of government propaganda that started from an article by a non-scientist in the ’50s. Sorry, rant over. 

Of course, a high carb diet leads to type two diabetes. Interestingly, humans would not have survived if it weren’t for type two diabetes. From the explanation above you can see how type two diabetes causes weight gain with all the excess sugar being stored as triglycerides. If it weren’t for that mechanism our ancestors would not have been able to fatten up for the winter by eating the abundance of sweet fruit at the end of the growing season. 

So, we all crave sweets and other fast carbs because we are descended from the survivors. The problem is that these fast carbs are always available! And we crave them, so an overweight population is the natural result. 

Unfortunately, insulin isn’t only the start of hormones being released after eating poorly. A veritable biochemical nightmare happens when we eat lots of fast carbs. Along with insulin, powerful steroids are released, fight or flight hormones. Yes, eating sugar will put your body into a state of fight or flight with all the problems that comes with that state of hyper-vigilance. 

From that point, most major health issues can be traced biochemically from the effect of these hormones. While hormones are needed for the body to function normally, and the body will recover from a little sugar abuse, too much for too long causes disaster. 

Reverse Diabetes

Think about our ancestors going into type two diabetes every year by eating fruit to fatten up for the winter. During the next season they spent a lot of time not getting enough to eat. And, opposed to lying around all day eating fruit, they get a lot of exercise chasing animals that were the main food available in winter. That caused type two diabetes to reverse! The body quickly returns to a normal and balanced state. 

Every overweight client I’ve ever had has quickly reversed type two diabetes once they started losing weight. That’s just about all it takes! Of course, we speed things along by balancing their sugar circuit with AK techniques, supplements and herbs. 

Actually, after years of poor diet it becomes necessary to use alternative techniques to bring balance back in a reasonable length of time. This is fairly easy to do, and it can be done with a phone session. One of the first things I check with every client every time I see them is their sugar circuit. It is that important.

Muscle Testing To Find The Perfect Treatment

Muscle testing is used in Applied Kinesiology as a diagnostic tool. It can be spookily accurate in many cases, but it depends on how it is used. The basic idea behind muscle testing is that the body has innate knowledge of itself which can be taped into by testing muscle strength to get a yes or no response.

The short video above is a simple demonstration of muscle testing and how it works. But, you may be interested in knowing more about it as well as a couple of interesting examples.

First, the body is made up of trillions of cells. The exact number is uncertain, but it is between 30 and 40 trillion. Some estimates go up to 724 trillion. While each of these countless cells basically function according to biochemical reactions, they each ‘know’ what to do according to your DNA. In other words, they each have an internal knowledge that makes it possible for each individual cell to work with all the other cells in the body.

There is a lot more that could be said about exactly how this knowledge is accessed, but that is explained in detail in two article. If you are interested, here is the first one on how to muscle test, and here is the second on how muscle testing works.

A great advantage muscle testing has is that it can be done remotely. The tester needs to be in contact with the one they are testing, that depends on the ability of the tester. one of the best uses of this is with a phone or Skype session.

Also, it is possible to self test. Unfortunately, that isn’t always accurate if the person testing themselves attached to the outcome. In other words, if you self test to find out if it is okay to have some ice cream, you will find that is perfectly okay even if it is the worst possible thing for you to do. But, when not invested, such as when surrogate testing about someone else, then the results will be much more accurate.

I use self muscle testing to surrogate test phone session clients. The results have been incredibly accurate. I’ve had people’s health change to such a degree that their doctor agreed that they were on the right track. In one instance a phone client was able to avoid back surgery as advised by their surgeon.

I’ve had many other seeming miracles that were facilitated by muscle testing. One of the most amazing is my friend who avoided a heart transplant. She had received a heart when she was six. It failed and they gave her another when she was seven. I met her when she was 16, at about 19 something was going on and her cardiologist put her on the list to get another in the next two or three years.

The issue had to do with the heat staying up in place. She was a little vague about it, but with the help of another practitioner while I muscle testing we were able to find more about what was going on and then found three whole food supplements to give her for it.

Ten days after starting the supplements her doctor took her off the list. She is now 37, and that same heart is still going strong, and still a good friend of mine. In fact, she’s a medic in the army which is a heavy load to bear, but she loves it and has no problem leading her team.

One of my favorite examples of how muscle testing literally told me exactly what to do isn’t nearly as spectacular. Still, if it weren’t for the body’s innate intelligence telling me what to do I wouldn’t have been able to help this young woman.

She was in her mid twenties with a problem in the back of her thigh. The muscles had been giving her trouble for a few months. I don’t remember exactly what she said the symptoms were except that it was always hurting and she had trouble walking because of it.

She was extremely reluctant to come to see me since she had already been to over 20 different doctors and various healers and body workers that had no effect on her at all. But, she had heard about me and decided to chance it even though she had to drive over an hour to get to me.

I had absolutely no idea of what to do! Nothing fit within my knowledge of biochemistry, several body work systems I know, or what I know of body dynamics at all. So, I started with the basics, what I normally clear with all clients before going after their primary complaint.

That all went well, so I started ‘talking to her body’ about what was going on and what to do to help clear up the problem. This involved going over every technique I know until the muscle test indicated the one to use. I knew something would help because I started with asking if I had something in my bag of tricks that would help her. That test said “yes.”

After going through over a dozen possibilities I finally got an answer as to which technique to use; my own style of what I call pressure point technique. It’s something that isn’t unique, but I have my own tricks I use to make it more effective.

Next, I had to find the exact points to work, so again I asked her body. There were a few other factors to discover about exactly how to approach it which her body told me.

Then I stated digging in. I used so much strength I’m sorry to say I bruised her. She ended up with a few finger sized bruises on her thigh. But, she was completely out of pain and she was finally able to use her leg normally. She was ecstatic! And, in total disbelief.

Her leg tightened up a little over the next couple of days, so she came back for another treatment which was all it took. I apologized for busing her, but she didn’t mind at all. Unfortunately, I didn’t think to use some of my exotic Chinese herbal liniment I had made a few years before, if I had she wouldn’t have bruised at all. I’m always learning.

I have many more examples, perhaps I’ll write some more if there’s interest. Even though I know a lot about the body and how to heal, I don’t know everything, no one does. Fortunately, the body does! All you need is to know how to ask and it will guide you to perfect health.

Flu season is here, and there has already been too much sadness in the news. But, it doesn’t have to be that way. There are a lot of things that can be done to avoid the flu, and several that can be done to minimize the impact. In most cases, an Applied Kinesiology (AK) flu treatment can almost completely eliminate the flu, or at least greatly reduce the symptoms and time to heal.

My daughter hasn’t had the flu in almost ten years now. She’s had it come on, but one call to her holistic healer father and the next day she’s fine. We’ve even turned it around with some of the kids she spends time with too. This is just one of the things a healing phone session is good for. Here’s how the flu treatment works.

There are three things that are necessary to get the flu. And, the virus isn’t one of them! Don’t get me wrong, you still want to avoid contact by washing your hands often and not touching yourself in your eyes, mouth or nose unless you’ve just washed. Ok, we can call that one a bonus. Even though there are three main factors that all have to be in place to get the flu, there are many more things you can do to prevent getting sick, and recover fast.

First, and most importat, is that the mechanism your body uses to keep its blood sugar balance must be fully functional. In AK this is called your sugar circuit. You can not get the flu if your sugar circuit is balanced.

Your sugar circuit can be balanced with a phone or Skype session in about five minutes, fifteen in extreme cases. You can help a great deal by not eating high glycemic foods like sugar, that includes ALL “healthy sugars” except for Stevia and alcohol sugars, ground up grains and sweet fruits. Exercise can help a lot.

But, even if you have a great diet, your sugar circuit can still get out of balance. Emotions have such a huge effect on your blood sugar balance that one of the best ways to balance it is to use an emotion clearing technique.

That says a lot about the power of our mind and emotions. Any major stress can throw your body completely out of balance and cause major problems.

The second major factor that has to happen to get the flu a clogged lymph system. That causes the lymph system to become blocked up which cause an accumulation of lymph in the surrounding tissues. That is why a flu comes with muscular soreness.

The lymphatic system eliminates the trash from the body. It is so pervasive in the body that it is often called the second circulatory system.

The cells in your body are living organisms that bring in nutrients and eliminate by products that are created from living, which is normal metabolism. The blood brings in the nutrients, and the lymph takes out the waste.

There are nine main lymph pumps in the body. Two in the hips, two in the arm pit/upper pectoral area, two in the upper back, two under the collar bones and one in the middle of the breast bone. While the blood is pumped by the heart, the lymph pumps get their pumping action from the swinging of the arms and legs as you walk.

One of the two reasons the flu is most common during the cold months is because people don’t get enough exercise. If you don’t walk at least 20 minutes a day the garbage the lymph glands collects gets backed up causing lymph pumps to become blocked.

Another function of the lymph pumps, or lymph glands which are concentrated in the pump areas, is to kill off pathogens. And, part of the trash the lymph takes out is bacteria and viruses that build up the body. So, you can have the flu virus in your body, but the lymph system keeps the numbers down below the threshold that would make you sick.

Many healers say that most people already have the viruses that cause colds and flu. Yes, all colds are from viruses. Especially in the flu season. The reason you don’t get sick is because the other factors needed to get sick aren’t in place.

Which leads us to the third factor that must be present to get the flu; insufficient vitamin D. One of its jobs is to activate the part of the immune system that destroys viruses.

The second reason the colder months is flu season is because people don’t get outside and into the sun which reacts with oils in your skin to make vitamin D. This is especially true for people who live further away from the equator. In those areas, the angle of the sun in winter months hitting the ground is too steep to make vitamin D.

Vitamin D is made in the skin. Oils in the skin is converted by the sun’s rays into vitamin D. The best way to get D is to get pink from the sun, ideally over at least 40 percent of your body. That much area getting pink produces between 100,000 and 250,000 international units (IU) of vitamin D.

As you get more tan the amount decreases, so it is self regulating. And, the darker you are, the less vitamin D your skin can produce for the same reason. And, it is really hard to over dose on vitamin D. There actually aren’t any cases of that happening, so it is better to take too much than to get too little.

The ideal dose depends on your weight. But the general guideline is 5000 IU a day for someone weighing 150 pounds. If you suspect you are low, then you can take more for a month or two to get your levels up. Ideally, you would get a blood test and your doctor can tell you what is best for you.

I know a woman who’s vitamin D levels were so low that her doctor had her taking 150,000 IU a day for over a month! She was elderly, and never got in the sun at all which explains how that happened.

And of course, there are many things you can do to prevent the flu. Curing it, or at least decreasing its effect so it is eliminated much faster with AK is pretty easy. Writing about it is quite a bit more involved, and this is already very long. So, you can help keep yourself from getting the flu by eliminating sugar and processed foods, exercising regularly and taking taking vitamin D when you don’t get enough sun. Man Broke Neck During Chiropractor Treatment

Chiropractic Neck Adjustment

I saw this headline from the BBC today, happened in York, England. It reads: Man ‘broke neck during chiropractor treatment.’ This can NEVER happen with Self Adjusting Technique.

In partial defense of the chiropractor, there was an accident where the table failed somehow, and collapsed or partly collapsed. Also, the man was elderly.

But! He was already experiencing pain and immobilization before the table dropped. And, anytime you are working with someone older or infirm you really need to take extra precautions. But, she did not, and the poor man ended up with a broken neck. I’m sure it was from the fall, but she should have listened to him when he told her she was hurting him. She basically ignored him and continued to work on him anyway.

The reason chiropractic adjustments can cause injury is because they use force. In fact, they always cause injury! The soft tissue around joints can not be forced that way without at least some swelling. Some chiropractors wisely ice their client after an adjustment.

I have treated many people who were injured by a chiropractor. I am very grateful that everyone who came to me with that problem was able to be healed. Fortunately, most were not hurt too badly. But still, they were left with something that didn’t clear up until they saw me.

My very good friend and mentor Dr. Larry Gertler was the only chiropractor I ever got a standard chiropractic adjustment from that didn’t hurt. Even so, he loved my gentle method of adjusting, He even took my workshop.

The way I learned holistic healing from him was to observe him with his clients. After the first time I adjusted him he started having me adjust people who were either scared of chiropractic adjustments, or if they were elderly or infirm.

He was completely blown away that first time I adjusted him for a neck problem. I found the area that needed work and even before doing anything he was surprised. He said, “Wow, you know exactly where you are! Your hands are amazing!!”

Even so, he was disappointed that I didn’t do a chiropractic adjustment. Many people are because it can feel really good to get cracked. One of the main reasons for this is the endorphins that are released when a joint is cracked. This is amplified when the crack is in the spine.

But, I did the soft adjustment I do, and I could tell it went well. At first he didn’t think I had gotten it because it was so gentle, and he didn’t get that satisfying crack. But, once he moved his head around a few times he found that the pain was gone.

This happens so often that I have come to expect it. I’ve gotten to where I even tell people that the adjustment is done. Instead I ask them to move the way that hurt when they came in to see if there is any difference. They are usually amazed to discover that the pain is gone.

I call this method of adjusting Soft Tissue Adjusting Technique. It is similar to methods that osteopaths develop for their every gentle soft tissue adjustments. And, people can do it for themselves! I call that method Self Adjusting Technique. You can get my book that includes videos showing how to gently adjust your neck, back, hips and ribs.

Self Adjusting Technique doesn’t include adjustments for the arms, legs, feet and hands mainly because it is very difficult to find the right adjustment. But, you can still adjust your own extremities with a Skype session. Video works best so I can be sure you are doing the right thing, and not hurting yourself.
