Having a less acidic body is something that everyone should desire. A healthy body is slightly acidic overall. Getting that way is not hard, but it isn’t done with what you eat which is what most people think. A little biochemistry, simplified of course, tells you how to alkalize your body the right way.
One of the reasons having a more alkaline body is that major diseases like cancer aren’t likely to form unless the environment is acidic. Parasites also like acid, and most people have parasites too.
How Nature Alkalizes the Body
Let’s start with the solution. A stomach that produces enough hydrochloric acid, or HCl, will keep the body at the perfect pH. PH measures the how acidic or alkaline a substance is.
But, very few people’s stomachs produce enough HCl, so taking HCl supplements with meals is necessary to keeping the body alkaline.
What? Taking HCl supplements will keep the body alkaline? How does that work?
I thought you’d never ask.
How Taking Hydrochloric Acid Alkalizes the Body
The body is made the way it is for a reason. When food moves from the stomach to the first part of the small intestines the pancreas and gallbladder release digestive enzymes to continue the digestion process. These enzymes are full of minerals that are very alkaline. So, not only does digestion continue the way it is supposed to, but the acid in the partially digested food is neutralized.
In fact, it is these acid neutralizing minerals that effectively neutralize the acid in the entire body. To be clear, this is the overall pH of the body, certain parts need to be acidic to work right.
The Infection Problem
Most people can’t just start taking HCl supplements. In fact, many people would be very unhappy if they did. The reason has to do with an infection that just about everyone has. This particular infection is one of the most common in the world, a bacteria called H. pylori, the cause of ulcers. The reason it’s so common is that one of HCl’s jobs is to sterilize the contents of the stomach, and since most people don’t produce enough HCl they get the infection because the bacteria is everywhere. Another problem with H. pylori is that if your infection is severe enough and you take HCl you will get an ulcer. Actually, you’d probably just stop taking the HCl because the combination can be really painful. The good news is that H. pylori is very easy to get rid of.
How to Eliminate H. Pylori and Cure Your Ulcer
H. pylori doesn’t respond well to antibiotics because it hides in the folds of the stomach lining. It’s hard to detect for the same reason, but it is there in almost everyone. It used to take weeks to cure ulcers because it took that long to get rid of H. pylori using natural techniques while antibiotics almost never worked. However, it can now be done in only ten days. And, all it takes is two cups of tea a day for those ten days. Brassica Tea was developed at Johns Hopkins University where the studies on H. pylori were done. It is laced with a high concentration of an antioxidant that is so powerful that it kills off H. pylori in just ten days. Even the worst ulcer will be cured within that length of time too. I’ve seen it work dozens of times.
When You can Start Taking HCl
Most people can start taking HCl and drinking the tea at the same time. But, it might not be worth doing since the pain from the HCl can be pretty bad, if there is an H. pylori infection. There is a test that involves taking a couple tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with water on an empty stomach, but that can be pretty painful too — if there’s pain you need the tea first.
What HCl to Take
Once you finish taking Brassica Tea for ten days you can start taking the HCl. The form you take it is is called Betain HCl. You’ll need about 1200 mg per meal to insure the release of alkalizers. And, most people will do well to take one that comes with pancreatic enzymes since most people are lacking in those as well. When using this HCl supplement you will need to take two with each meal.
It doesn’t matter if a meal has protein or not, it’s the alkalizing you want. And, it’s best if you take the supplement about half way through the meal though it is ok to take it later if you forget. Up to 30 minutes after will still provide benefit.
Action Steps to Alkalize Your Body
First, order some Brassica Tea and start drinking two cups a day. On an empty stomach is ideal. After ten days start taking about 1200 mg of HCl per meal. A little more or a little less is fine, though more is better than less.
Conclusion and Contact
That’s all there is to having a perfect pH balance in your body. If you want to know where you are you can contact me for a phone session. I can do a surrogate test to find out how acidic your body is which would tell if you need to take HCl or not. Now you know how to alkalize your body, get started!
Be sure to add this article to your social network so your friends can learn this valuable lesson too.
My doctor has been trying to convince me that I need to purchase a Kangen water alkalinizer. After reading your article, I am not sure that alkalinized water would even establish a perfect pH balance in my body. Any comments would be much appreciated!
Just wondering, is this something (the HCl and tea) that you suggest doing indefinitely? Great article! Thank you!
@adrianne, there are issues with alkaline water. First, it doesn’t alkalize the body very well. It does have an effect, but it is limited, at least according to what I’ve learned about it. And, there is a negative effect if it is too alkaline, mostly that it neutralizes the acid in your stomach! If you do get one then only drink alkaline water on an empty stomach.
I’ve seen it more times than I can count, HCl creates the perfect pH for the body.
@Tami, taking the HCl is the only supplement I take all the time almost completely without fail. The tea is good to drink twice a week for the antioxidant, it is the same as what the liver uses to detoxify chemicals in the body through the glutathione pathway. But, you only need it for the ten days, then the HCl keeps H. pylori away.
this is wonderful information, but I am wondering why you have to take the SGS in tea? can’t you just take a supplement of it-like Jarrow;s broccomax?
@connie, the broccomax doesn’t have a high enough concentration of the SGS. The tea is just a vehicle for the SGS, I think they say it has equivalent SGS of something like 50 pounds of Brussels sprouts.
hi kalidasa; excellent article, my friend; pls keep up the good work of informing us all through yr blogs of those less known yet very vital aspects of our health , like yr recent blog abt alkalinity ; thks very much again ;
@ken, happy to offer what I can, and glad it helps.
does it matter what for the brassica tea is? black or green format?
@tamara, they are all just flavors, so no it doesn’t matter which one. But, I prefer the Redbush since it has other health properties and no caffeine.
Hi,
I was fascinated by your explanation but you lost me at:
In fact, it is these acid neutralizing minerals that effectively neutralize the acid in the entire body. To be clear, this is the overall pH of the body, certain parts need to be acidic to work right.
now, I agree that the pancreas and gall excrete minerals which neutralize any acid in the intestines (be it acid from your stomach or from a capsule OR from an acidic food (lemons?)) but once they have done their job, they are used up chemically – they have turned into salts. So they can´t reenter the body through the intestinal walls and continue neutralizing acids there. ACTUALLY, now that they have left the body into the intestines to do their work there, they are NOW MISSING from the spaces in our bodies where the acids can run rampant.
I would love it if you could clear this up for me and – I am sure – for many other interested readers!
@Barbara, Great question. The neutralizers are more than enough to neutralize the acid. There is plenty left to aid in neutralizing the overall body acidity.
Another job of HCl in the stomach is to ionize minerals so the body can use them. This helps to make these minerals available for use in the pancreas and gallbladder.
I do not have an ulcer, should I alkalize anyway
I might not even have H. pylori . How would I know.
Are there side effects from the tea or the HCI supplements? Where does one buy these?
Why don’t medical doctors recommend this treatment?
@Susan, If you have low HCl you will have H. pylori because it is the acid that keeps it from getting a foot hold in the stomach. About 95 percent of the population does not produce enough HCl. Mostly it’s the very young who eat a very good diet who have enough. Of course, not all young people will have enough, I’ve seen a number of children who had problems from not enough HCl. An Applied Kinesiology test can tell you if you have. pylori or not.
Not everyone who has the bacteria will develop an ulcer since it takes acid as well as the infection to cause most ulcers. If you are low in HCl then taking HCl supplements will help alkalize your body. Three are no side effects to either supplement if the technique is done as described in the article. In the article there is a link to an HCl and pepsin supplement. Most will work as long as the dosage is around 1200 mg.
The tea has no side effects either. In fact, it is really good to drink at least two cups a week for the enzymes the liver needs for its detoxification job. Either that or eat half a cup of raw cabbage family vegetables twice a week.
Thanks for the quick responses! I would love to follow up –
“The neutralizers are more than enough to neutralize the acid. There is plenty left to aid in neutralizing the overall body acidity.”
I had 3 questions pop up due to your response:
1. Assuming neutralizers are minerals – I am under the assumption most of us (due to a bad diet) are overnourished in terms of calories – simple sugars etc and malnourished in terms of nutrients – enzymes, micronutrients, vitamins and minerals – if these neutralizers come from within our bodies (getting excreted in bile and pancreatic juices) and we have too little of them, then using some for digestive purposes will deplete our inner body stores even further – lessening our ability to change our body system pH – or not?
2. From your article, I understood there is some kind of a connection – you need to either produce HCl or take it as a supplement to stimulate digestive juices and enzyme production beyond the stomach to neutralize exactly this HCl and THEN you will better be able to neutralize the acids within your other body systems – I haven´t understood this connection, yet – how does chemical neutralization of acids in one compartment induce the same process in another?
You then wrote:
“Another job of HCl in the stomach is to ionize minerals so the body can use them. This helps to make these minerals available for use in the pancreas and gallbladder.”
So my question 3 is: This makes a lot of sense IF the food you eat actually contains these minerals, which very often it doesn´t – what then? I guess we are thrown back at my first two questions.
I truly appreciate your time in answering things that have been irking me for a long time – I´m so glad I happened on this article!!!
Warm regards
Yes, the normal American diet will be very deficient in minerals. That could be a problem for people not interested in changing their diet. But, there are also minerals in grains which most Americans eat plenty of, so perhaps those will help — I really am not sure of this, but I’ll consult with a friend for clarity. Of course it would be much better for people to eat more fresh vegetables and fruits. I hope that answers questions 1 and 3.
For number 2,the response to the acidic food in the small intestines (duodenum actually), is proportional to how acidic it is. So, a meal with animal protein will stimulate more HCl which will stimulate more acid neutralizers in the duodenum. As a side note, vegetarians and vegans usually have the most acidic bodies since their diet doesn’t stimulate much if any HCl production in the stomach. So, the more acidic the stronger the response which leaves more available for keeping the body at a higher pH.
Very good questions, Barbara, I appreciate the clarity you’re helping with.
Thanks again for your responses!!
“As a side note, vegetarians and vegans usually have the most acidic bodies since their diet doesn’t stimulate much if any HCl production in the stomach.”
My assumption – and this is what you read in literature and on the internet (and smell when standing next to) is that heavy meat eaters are very acidic (mainly but not only due to large amounts of uric acid created while the body struggles to break down all the unuseable byproducts of animal proteins), while vegans (ideally raw vegans) are alkaline (and very pleasant and sweet smelling) as their diet itself is very alkalizing. Any thoughts about this?
“So, a meal with animal protein will stimulate more HCl which will stimulate more acid neutralizers in the duodenum.”
This I totally agree with. But what I fail to comprehend is:
“So, the more acidic the stronger the response which leaves more available for keeping the body at a lower pH.”
You might have made a mistake here meaning higher pH, not lower as we are discussing alkalizing, so I am assuming you meant more alkaline.
I still fail to see the connection between a strong response of my digestive juices to acids in the intestines and how that, as a consequence, results in a more alkaline body.
Thanks again for your patience in clearing this up all the way for me!
Hi,
Thanks for your findings. Please my question is that How do I know that I am having this problem? 2. My left side of stomach beside my navel is always hurting me as if there is fire around that axis, I have taken alot of medication but no improvement. The hottness is always severe next day after meeting with my husbad, during my ovulation period and few days to my monthly circle. Is there any thing you can do to help me out of this problem?
Thanks again for your great questions, Barbara! They really help to clarify this information.
You are right, I made a rookie mistake in the pH direction! I fixed it in that comment. Thanks for keeping me straight!
Anyone who doesn’t produce enough HCl will have a putrefaction problem in their stomach. That would be especially true of meat eaters. BTW, that is one of the causes of excess acid in the stomach, it comes from lack of sufficient HCl to correctly digest the meat which putrefies making its own acid. An alkaline diet is much better for most people simply because they are avoiding processed foods. Processed foods feed candida which accounts for a lot of bad smells. The ubiquitous information about alkalizing the body with an alkaline diet is simply not taking into account the biochemistry discussed in this article. I don’t know about my own smell, it doesn’t seem that strong to me, but my body is just slightly acidic, the perfect pH. And, I eat animal protein with every meal, perhaps even too much at times.
The response to HCl in the duodenum is more than enough to alkalize that food. The remainder is available to neutralize the body in general. A side not here, in a healthy individual the small intestines will be alkaline and the large intestines acidic. What we are really looking at here is the pH of all the combined liquid in the body.
@Gloria, The chances are that your body is too acidic, it is pretty much the norm — about 95 percent of people will be too acidic.
The problem you describe could have several different causes, though it does seem to be related to reproductive organs. Even though that area is well above the ovaries it could be referral pain. You might want to get a test in case it’s an ovarian cyst. They can be dissolved with supplements, doctors believe they can only be treated with surgery.
