How to Alkalize Your Body

Having a less acidic body is something that everyone should desire. A healthy body is slightly acidic overall. Getting that way is not hard, but it isn’t done with what you eat which is what most people think. A little biochemistry, simplified of course, tells you how to alkalize your body the right way.

One of the reasons having a more alkaline body is that major diseases like cancer aren’t likely to form unless the environment is acidic. Parasites also like acid, and most people have parasites too.

How Nature Alkalizes the Body
Let’s start with the solution. A stomach that produces enough hydrochloric acid, or HCl, will keep the body at the perfect pH. PH measures the how acidic or alkaline a substance is.

But, very few people’s stomachs produce enough HCl, so taking HCl supplements with meals is necessary to keeping the body alkaline.

What? Taking HCl supplements will keep the body alkaline? How does that work?

I thought you’d never ask.

How Taking Hydrochloric Acid Alkalizes the Body
The body is made the way it is for a reason. When food moves from the stomach to the first part of the small intestines the pancreas and gallbladder release digestive enzymes to continue the digestion process. These enzymes are full of minerals that are very alkaline. So, not only does digestion continue the way it is supposed to, but the acid in the partially digested food is neutralized.

In fact, it is these acid neutralizing minerals that effectively neutralize the acid in the entire body. To be clear, this is the overall pH of the body, certain parts need to be acidic to work right.

The Infection Problem
Most people can’t just start taking HCl supplements. In fact, many people would be very unhappy if they did. The reason has to do with an infection that just about everyone has. This particular infection is one of the most common in the world, a bacteria called H. pylori, the cause of ulcers. The reason it’s so common is that one of HCl’s jobs is to sterilize the contents of the stomach, and since most people don’t produce enough HCl they get the infection because the bacteria is everywhere. Another problem with H. pylori is that if your infection is severe enough and you take HCl you will get an ulcer. Actually, you’d probably just stop taking the HCl because the combination can be really painful. The good news is that H. pylori is very easy to get rid of.

How to Eliminate H. Pylori and Cure Your Ulcer
H. pylori doesn’t respond well to antibiotics because it hides in the folds of the stomach lining. It’s hard to detect for the same reason, but it is there in almost everyone. It used to take weeks to cure ulcers because it took that long to get rid of H. pylori using natural techniques while antibiotics almost never worked. However, it can now be done in only ten days. And, all it takes is two cups of tea a day for those ten days. Brassica Tea was developed at Johns Hopkins University where the studies on H. pylori were done. It is laced with a high concentration of an antioxidant that is so powerful that it kills off H. pylori in just ten days. Even the worst ulcer will be cured within that length of time too. I’ve seen it work dozens of times.

When You can Start Taking HCl
Most people can start taking HCl and drinking the tea at the same time. But, it might not be worth doing since the pain from the HCl can be pretty bad, if there is an H. pylori infection. There is a test that involves taking a couple tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with water on an empty stomach, but that can be pretty painful too — if there’s pain you need the tea first.

What HCl to Take
Once you finish taking Brassica Tea for ten days you can start taking the HCl. The form you take it is is called Betain HCl. You’ll need about 1200 mg per meal to insure the release of alkalizers. And, most people will do well to take one that comes with pancreatic enzymes since most people are lacking in those as well. When using this HCl supplement you will need to take two with each meal.

It doesn’t matter if a meal has protein or not, it’s the alkalizing you want. And, it’s best if you take the supplement about half way through the meal though it is ok to take it later if you forget. Up to 30 minutes after will still provide benefit.

Action Steps to Alkalize Your Body
First, order some Brassica Tea and start drinking two cups a day. On an empty stomach is ideal. After ten days start taking about 1200 mg of HCl per meal. A little more or a little less is fine, though more is better than less.

Conclusion and Contact
That’s all there is to having a perfect pH balance in your body. If you want to know where you are you can contact me for a phone session. I can do a surrogate test to find out how acidic your body is which would tell if you need to take HCl or not. Now you know how to alkalize your body, get started!

Hello and welcome to my blog! There are several reasons I decided to start writing a blog on natural self-healing. The main thing I want to do is to share information on health and healing so that people can take action to heal themselves using natural techniques. I have met so many people who couldn't afford natural health care. They may have had health insurance, but they didn't trust that model. Many people want to know how to be healthy naturally. They want to know what really works and what doesn't. They want to be health conscious and often fail because of poor information, lack of knowledge, bad science and other factors. This blog is intended to help demystify the body and its various functions and to help people understand what is really needed to obtain optimum health. One of the great things about knowledge of the body is that once you know and understand how it works it becomes easy to know what the right things to do for it. And, it is much easier to do the right things when the consequences of the wrong things are fully understood. To do this I will be drawing from the knowledge of many people that I have learned from. I will talk about biochemistry relating that to what is needed to obtain optimum health. There will be information about the physical structure of the body and how to keep that aligned and functioning well. A major part of yoga has to do with health, so information about yogic techniques will be included. Mental and emotional health are important for the health of the body/mind, so articles about these topics will be included. And, there will be an occasional article about me and what I am up to. Hopefully I can relate that back to some health issue as well. The title Self Adjusting Technique comes from my technique for self-adjusting the structural part of the body, that is adjusting the body's various vertebrae and joints. For this blog it will include the idea of how to adjust health issues for yourself and those you care about. With a little knowledge there is a lot people can do to help heal themselves and stay healthy. I want to explain complex information about the body in a way that is easy to understand and useful. The comments section will help in that goal as people can ask for clarification if there is something they don't understand. And maybe we can get some helpful input from people smarter than me that will benefit us all. I hope you find information that can help you with your health issues. Kalidasa

Great article!! Would this be beneficial for someone who probably has a leaky gut from numerous food sensitivities?? Thanks! so glad I found your site:)

  • Kalidasa May 2, 2012, 10:37 am

@Tracy It would be helpful, but there is a lot more to leaky gut. The elimination diet is the best thing you can do for yourself. Eating fermented foods is another, they provide a really good bacteria that creates the right pH in the gut — it’s an acidic small intestines that makes the perforations.

Hi- I am 52 years old and I tend to get a lot of bloating especially when lying down along with burning after I eat ( also I need to lose weigh- in the belly) I have been taking HCI for a few weeks but I was interested in finding out about checking for alkaline and ordering the Brassica tea – any suggestions- will the alkaline test strips work?

    Thanks

  • Kalidasa May 3, 2012, 9:01 am

@George, It’s hard to tell about the bloating, it could be a couple of things. My first suspicion is the wrong bacteria in the gut. Eating fermented vegetables will usually fix that.

If you’re taking HCl without pain then your H. pylori infection isn’t really bad, but I can pretty much guarantee it is there. The ta is cheap and easy to take, so I’d highly recommend it. There’s a link in the article, and one on brassicatea.com.

The test strips won’t work. There are methods that some peopleple use, but they aren’t accurate.

Fermented vegetables- like sour kraut? and are there others?

  • Kalidasa May 4, 2012, 9:29 am

Yes, cabbage and just about any other vegetable can be fermented.

  • David Boone May 4, 2012, 5:46 pm

Real unpasteurized sauerkraut which does not have vinegar on the ingredients label, just cabbage and maybe salt, correct?

  • Kalidasa May 4, 2012, 7:19 pm

@David, That’s what I’d use. It’s really easy to make too.

Hi! I started drinking the tea and taking the HCl at the same time. I probably shouldn’t have… because in 3 days I began to feel pain in my stomach (never felt anything before ever). So, according to your article, I’m going to go out on a limb here and say the HCl may have caused an ulceration. (?) I stopped taking the HCl, but this morning continued with the tea when I woke up, and got extremely nauseated. (I’ve been taking the tea on an empty stomach.) Is this something that you would expect to happen, or should I be concerned? Also, should I start counting today as day #1 with the tea, working up to the 10 days you recommend? (basically starting this process all over again, because of taking the HCl too soon and stopping it today?)
I’d appreciate any advice you can give. Also, w/the nausea, would taking an antacid mute any result from the tea? If I get nauseated again, is there something I can do to stop it, better yet prevent it to begin with? I’m not usually nauseated from anything except pregnancy, and since It was on an empty stomach as per your advice, it has to be the tea that did it! (is this usual, and passing?) Thanks again, I am seriously trying to get my stomach/guts healthier, and I believe alkalizing is the best way to start… I don’t want to give up because of discomfort now! Advice?

I jumped back onto this page to pass on a little info that I happened across while checking out the benefits of a product called Manuka Honey. Brand doesn’t matter, from what I’m reading…. just needs to be authentic and raw, and the higher the active number (12+, 16+, etc) the higher the medicinal “kick” it has… It’s known holistically for it’s healing properties, as well as by medical doctors…. especially for burns and wounds, which is what I was looking into it for initially. THEN I came across an article where it destroys H Pylori in the body! I wanted to pass it on, to anybody that might be interested, and please, Kalidasa, check into this and verify that I do not have mis-informed information on this product…. I can’t read anything but good about it, but you may know better of course.

Honey does offer some health benefits. There is a problem for people with adrenal fatigue though since the body responds to honey the same way it does to sugar. And, many people have adrenal issues. One way to mitigate the problem is to take it after a good well balanced meal with lots of vegies and some fat.

Dont know if i missed this but what is the carrier process or protection does alkalizing your have for when it hits the stomach? The stomach is acidic, obviously, it needs to be so when the alkaline hits the stomach the “war” between the two will be won by the acid? From what ive read the alkaline doesnt “neutralize” the stomach acid and supposedly the main influence on being alkaline is in your diet and what you eat? What are your thoughts on this? Just wondering not a challenge or anything. I have some people in the water business , some i question and one is really amazing. I should post what he is doing with water. Also, what is your take on absorbtion meaning that the size of the cell vs the size of the water molecule (being micron) .. there are a few out there that have nano water that can penetrate the cell more efficiently and better absorbtion.

    Thanks Kalidasa
    JP

JP, Alkaline water doesn’t really do that much to help alkalize the body because of what you said. If it is used it should only be when the stomach is completely empty, usually between at least two hours after eating and an hour before. If taken when there is acid in the stomach then they will neutralize each other to what ever extent one is more acid or more alkaline.

You do bring up one really good point; whatever you eat will be acidified by the HCl in the stomach. Meaning that even if an alkaline food is eaten then it won’t really have much to offer for alkalizing the body once it’s gone through digestion. And, if there is insufficient HCl in the stomach, as there is with most people, then it isn’t digested sufficiently to offer any alkalizing properties. The only real alkalizer in food are the minerals and some vitamins — minerals have to be ionized by HCl in the stomach to be able to do this though.

Thanks for the response Kalidasa, i’ve always wondered about that and you also hit on the HCI enviroment in the stomach which is critical also. So many people think they have “to much ” acid in their stomach when actually its the opposite, we dont have enough (especially as we get older along with a lower production of enzymes for digestion) Thank you for the imformative response. Always look forward to them. Thank you for such a great site and advice!!
